The Search Experience
Specialist is responsible for ensuring the quality, relevance, and integrity of the ecommerce search experience across digital travel platforms. This role acts as the primary owner of search result quality, monitoring how travelers discover destinations, hotels, and products, and proactively addressing issues that negatively impact usability, trust, or conversion.
During platform migration, the role plays a key part in maintaining and reconciling search data across booking engines, ensuring consistency and continuity of the traveler experience. The incumbent works cross-functionally with Merchandising, CRO, Product, and Technology teams to diagnose root causes of search issues and continuously improve search performance, and reports into the Merchandising Manager in the Ecommerce department.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Search Quality Monitoring &
- Evaluation Curate and maintain a high-relevance destination database, ensuring that all new countries, regions, cities, airports, and landmarks are accurately mapped and functional across all product types (e.g., Hotel, Flight, Packages).
Evaluate search result quality to ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with traveler intent.
Monitor zero results, low results, and misleading searches, identifying patterns that negatively impact on the traveler's experience and actively participating in the design and implementation of corrective solutions.
Identify and flag poor search experiences, including misleading results, incorrect availability, or irrelevant listings.
Ensure search filters accurately reflect inventory characteristics and traveler needs.
Manage the continuous alignment of search logic with evolving third-party partner.
Audit and validate search widget configurations for all new destination launches act as key Ecommerce stakeholders in destination activation. Data Governance &
- Platform Migration Support Maintain and reconcile search data across booking engines during migration to ensure consistency and reliability of results.
Analyze third-party system logic and data architecture to design and execute comprehensive QA frameworks, ensuring seamless data parity and search relevance during platform migrations.
Identify data gaps, mismatches, or regressions introduced during migration and work with internal teams to resolve them.
Support business continuity by helping ensure search quality is maintained throughout platform transitions.
Root Cause
Analysis &
- Issue Resolution Diagnose root causes of search quality issues, including data integrity problems, configuration errors, or ranking logic limitations.
Translate qualitative search findings and quantitative signals into actionable insights.
Provide structured feedback to Product and Technology teams to support continuous improvement of search logic and relevance. Cross-Functional Collaboration Align search behavior with merchandising strategies to maximize commercial opportunities, maintaining a balance between revenue-driven product placement and a high-integrity discovery experience.
Collaborate with CRO, Content, and Product teams to align search behavior with site experience and funnel optimization.
Act as an advocate for the traveler by ensuring changes do not degrade search usability or transparency.
Work in collaboration with RM,
System Analysts, and the Product team to ensure search logic reflects real-time inventory availability, technical system constraints, and long-term product enhancements.
Performance
Monitoring &
- Reporting Monitor search performance using analytics and diagnostic tools (e.g., Google Analytics, logging tools).
Analyze search performance signals to identify friction and growth opportunities, translating them into prioritized actions across merchandising, inventory, and product teams to improve conversion, relevance, and revenue.
Conduct regular audits of search health and contribute to ongoing quality assurance processes.
Track and communicate improvements related to search quality initiatives. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Ecommerce, Information Technology, Tourism, or a related field, or equivalent qualified experience.
Experience or exposure to ecommerce, search analysis, digital merchandising, SEO, or website quality assurance.
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify patterns or inconsistencies in data and user experience.
Comfort working with analytics tools and large datasets.
Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Experience supporting platform changes or system migrations (nice-to-have).
Exposure to ecommerce or travel related digital platforms (nice-to-have).
Familiarity with CRO concepts or funnel optimization (nice-to-have).
Experience working with cross functional teams (nice-to-have).
Experience working with content management systems (CMS) (preferred).
