Position: Seasonal Marina Attendant Department: Community Services and Strategic Partnerships Division: Marina and Waterfront Facilities Reports to: Supervisor of Marina Operations Community Services and Strategic Partnerships This department is responsible for developing and implementing Economic Development, Tourism and Communication strategies for the City. The department is also responsible for the management of all City facilities which includes the day to day operations of our Arenas and Marina. In addition the department will be actively involved with developing and maintaining numerous strategic partnerships with various groups and organizations with whom the City of Quinte West engages.

Purpose and Scope: The Marina Attendant will provide services for the Marina facilities, boaters and Gathering Hall guests.

Duties and Responsibilities: The position will: Provide excellent customer service and act as an ambassador of the City of Quinte West.

Greet customers and answer inquiries.

Driving

Take reservations for both seasonal and transient boaters.

Handle cash, use Point of Sale (POS) software, balance cash tills and prepare cash receipts reports.

Act as fuel station operator assisting boaters with mooring their boats, occasionally directing boat traffic, pumping gas and diesel and providing pump out services while following fuel handling regulations and guidelines.

Act as canteen operator preparing fryer foods, serving ice cream and preparing breakfast items.

Maintain canteen in a clean and hygienic manner while following food handling guidelines.

Clean, set up, take down and conduct other Gathering Hall event operations, including bartending and serving.

Provide custodial and maintenance services throughout the Marina including cleaning public and boaters’ washrooms, boaters’ lounge, Gathering Hall, office, staff room and all other indoor Marina areas.

Clean docks and outdoor Marina areas and deal with garbage and recycling according to Marina guidelines and schedules.





Assist City Parks staff with weeding gardens and maintaining open spaces as necessary.

Maintain Marina basins including removing trash and weeds from water and disposing of in prescribed manner.

Operate portable pump out equipment on the docks safely, hygienically and in a timely fashion.

Maintain and operate marina workboat and 20 hp outboard engine.

Drive 3/4 ton truck and dump trailer to and from marina, offsite storage yard and Frankford dump.

Shuttle customers to and from offsite storage yard and/or provide access as required.

Work independently and in a team, as required, to fulfill all job duties.

Perform basic computer functions including Word, Excel, Google Workspace, POS, Marina Management software.

Follow all Marina Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) at all times.

Demonstrate a commitment to learning and overall career development.

Follow all guidelines for employees and employers as legislated under the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, other applicable legislation, best practices, City policies and procedures where applicable.

Contacts: The position will have direct contact with: Internal: Director of Community Services and Strategic Partnerships, Manager of Facilities, Supervisor of Marina Operations, Marina Seasonal and Student Attendants.

External: Marina boating customers, Gathering Hall Customers and the general public.

Education/Specialized Training/Skills: The position will require: A minimum of a Grade 12 Diploma.

A valid Class G Driver’s Licence and a safe driving record in good standing,



satisfactory to the employer

Pleasure Craft Operator Card

Demonstrated interpersonal and team skills.

Ability to lift up to 18 kg/40 lbs.

Ability to deal courteously and effectively with boaters, Gathering Hall customers, the general public and Marina management and staff.

A highly developed sense of professionalism, tact and diplomacy.

Must demonstrate respect for confidential and sensitive issues.

Demonstrated telephone and public relations skills.

Demonstrated ethical behaviour and business practices.

Proficient computer skills including Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Dayforce (or other similar software programs) email and internet.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to have: Although not required, the following would be considered a preferred asset to the position. The ability to communicate in both English and French

Fuel Handling Safety Training

Restricted Operator's Certificate (Maritime) Work Experience: A minimum of one (1) year of previous customer service experience is required.

Nice to have: Although not required, the following would be considered an asset to the position. Previous boating or recreational marine experience.

Previous experience driving a truck or trailer Decision Making: This position has minimal responsibility to decision making affecting the department.

Supervision: The position has no supervisory responsibility.

Work Environment: Indoors work as well as outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Works primarily close to open water, boats and other equipment.

A combination of day shifts, evening shifts and weekends.

Note: This posting is for an existing seasonal vacancy. The hours of work are up to 40 hours per week from November to March and may include evenings, weekends and public holidays.
