Commissionaires BC is looking to hire casual on call detention guards to work with us at the RCMP detachment in Vanderhoof.Shift TimesOn-Call - Days, Evenings and OvernightsPayrate$22/hrPosition SummaryUnder the direction of the RCMP Member responsible for Cell Block Operations, Detention Guards are primarily responsible for monitoring the safety and well-being of persons in custody as well as performing additional duties as required. You must live withing a 60 minutes drive of the detachment.Duties And ResponsibilitiesObserve and check prisoners frequently and irregularly, including the use of CCTVAssist RCMP members in prisoner searches, under directionOrganise meals, record prisoner activity, and maintain a prisoner activity logbookMaintain cleanliness and tidiness of cells when vacated or arrange janitor assistanceConduct search of cells prior to occupation and when cells are vacated, reporting any damageMaintain cellblock security by ensuring cell doors are always lockedEnsure all personal effects removed from prisoners are properly securedMonitor fire safety and be fully conversant with fire ordersHandle and dispense laundry itemsDispense approved prescription medications to persons in custody, under supervisionPerform other duties required by the detachmentQualifications – Knowledge,
