THE CLIENT

STRIVE Recruitment is partnered with a growing real estate organisation based in Vancouver with an established portfolio and active development pipeline.

They are looking to add a Senior Accountant to their team in a broad, hands-on position spanning development accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, cash flow management and commercial real estate.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious accounting professional who wants exposure beyond a traditional Senior Accountant role, with direct access to senior leadership and genuine long-term career progression to accounting manager / Controller as the organisation grows.

THE ROLE

Reporting to senior finance leadership, the Senior Accountant will support the full accounting cycle across development projects and income-producing assets.

This is a hands-on role combining higher-level accounting and analysis with day-to-day transactional responsibilities. The successful candidate will be comfortable taking ownership across financial reporting, project accounting and budgeting while remaining involved in AP, reconciliations and other operational accounting activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Prepare monthly financial statements, journal entries, accruals and supporting schedules
- Manage project cash flows, budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
- Prepare construction progress claims and development draw requests




- Support lender financing packages and ongoing financial reporting
- Manage AP/AR activities, bank reconciliations and applicable tax filings
- Prepare management reporting and portfolio consolidations
- Support commercial property accounting, including leases, rent rolls and tenant billings
- Assist with year-end audit and tax processes
- Partner with internal stakeholders to provide financial and analytical support across active projects
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting and systems
- Support additional projects and ad hoc requirements as the business continues to grow

REQUIREMENTS

- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience within real estate, construction, public practice or a related environment
- Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
- Solid understanding of full-cycle accounting and financial reporting
- CPA designation, or nearing completion of CPA studies, is considered an asset
- Development, construction or project accounting experience is a strong asset
- Strong candidates from public practice with relevant transferable experience are encouraged to apply
- Strong Excel skills; real estate accounting system experience is considered an asset
- Strong communication skills with a proactive, hands-on approach
- Comfortable taking ownership of both senior-level and day-to-day transactional accounting responsibilities

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

- $75,000 – $90,000 base salary
- 10–15% discretionary bonus
