Location: Remote within Canada.
Travel: Occasional travel to Regina, SK may be required
Contract: Initial term through October 31, 2027, with potential extensions
About the Role
We are seeking up to two Senior Business Analysts to support complex healthcare technology and digital health initiatives with a particular focus on healthcare interoperability.
The successful candidates will lead business analysis activities for projects that enable the secure exchange of health information across healthcare systems, organizations, and care settings. You will work closely with clinical, business, technical, vendor, and other healthcare stakeholders to define requirements, analyze processes and data flows, support solution design, and help deliver successful project outcomes.
This is a senior-level role requiring strong communication, analytical, documentation, stakeholder management, problem-solving, and leadership skills. The successful candidates will be comfortable working in complex, technology-driven environments with multiple concurrent priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead business analysis activities for healthcare interoperability, integration, and digital health initiatives.
- Elicit, analyze, document, and validate business, functional, and technical requirements.
- Analyze and document data mappings between source systems and target solutions.
- Work with healthcare interoperability standards and protocols, including HL7 v2 and HL7 FHIR.
- Collaborate with business, clinical, technical, vendor, and healthcare stakeholders to ensure requirements are clearly understood and successfully implemented.
- Facilitate requirements-gathering sessions, workshops, working sessions, stakeholder meetings, and project discussions.
- Document meeting decisions, action items, requirements, outcomes, and key project information.
- Analyze current-state and future-state business processes, identify gaps, and assess opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain business process models, workflows, use cases, user stories, business rules, metrics, and KPIs.
- Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for system integrations, data exchanges, reporting, and process improvements.
- Troubleshoot and coordinate the resolution of issues involving integrations, interoperability, data exchange, and business processes.
- Develop test strategies, test plans, and test cases.
- Coordinate and support system, integration, and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Support quality assurance, implementation, deployment, and go-live activities.
- Prepare transparent and audience-appropriate documentation, presentations, reports, briefings, and other project materials, including materials for senior leadership.
- Write, review, edit, and maintain business, technical, operational, and end-user documentation.
- Support the evaluation, procurement, and implementation of technology solutions.
- Support organizational change management activities, including impact assessments, stakeholder analysis, and communication of project benefits and outcomes.
- Monitor project progress and identify risks, issues, dependencies, and potential mitigation strategies.
- Provide analysis, recommendations, and guidance to project teams and stakeholders to support informed decision-making.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience working as a Business Analyst within a healthcare environment.
- Minimum 3 years of experience working on data integration or interoperability projects.
- Demonstrated experience with healthcare interoperability standards and protocols, particularly HL7 v2 and HL7 FHIR.
- Experience analyzing and documenting data mappings, workflows, and information exchanges between healthcare systems.
- Experience leading business analysis activities for healthcare interoperability, integration, or digital health initiatives.
- Strong experience gathering, analyzing, documenting, and validating business and technical requirements.
- Experience translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating stakeholder workshops and requirements-gathering sessions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex business and technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Experience developing test strategies, test plans, and test cases and coordinating system, integration, and UAT activities.
- Familiarity with one or more major Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within large, complex, multi-stakeholder environments with competing priorities.
