Role Overview

HOCS Projects is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the successful delivery of mechanical engineering scopes within multi-disciplinary projects across the energy sector. This role is accountable for technical quality, mechanical design, equipment specification, discipline coordination, vendor engagement and project support throughout the project lifecycle. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership to project teams while delivering safe, practical and constructible mechanical engineering solutions aligned with project requirements, client expectations and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead and execute mechanical engineering scopes from concept development and FEED through detailed engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning.

· Establish mechanical design criteria and prepare, review and approve equipment datasheets, specifications, material requisitions, design calculations and other discipline deliverables.

· Specify, evaluate and select static, rotating and packaged mechanical equipment in accordance with project requirements and applicable codes and standards.

· Lead technical bid evaluations, review vendor drawings and documentation, and resolve technical matters with suppliers and fabricators.

· Provide mechanical input to P&IDs;, equipment layouts and multi-disciplinary design deliverables to support safe,



operable and constructible facilities.

· Plan and coordinate assigned mechanical work, monitor deliverables against scope and schedule, and identify technical risks or changes requiring project action.

· Lead or participate in design, constructability, operability and process-safety reviews, including HAZOP activities, as required.

· Provide technical guidance and mentorship to intermediate and junior engineers and designers, and review their work for technical accuracy and completeness.

· Interface with clients, project managers, other disciplines, vendors and construction teams to resolve complex technical issues and support project decisions.

· Provide construction, fabrication, commissioning and start-up support, including site visits, field reviews and responses to technical queries.

· Ensure mechanical deliverables comply with project requirements, client specifications, applicable codes and standards, and HOCS quality and safety practices.

· Authenticate professional engineering documents when required and within the engineer’s area of competence and professional responsibilities.

Education, Skilled Registration & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent engineering discipline.

· Professional Engineer (P.Eng.)



registered and in good standing with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).

· Minimum 15 years of progressive mechanical engineering experience within the oil and gas, industrial, EPC or EPCM environment.

· Demonstrated experience leading mechanical scopes and preparing and reviewing deliverables for static, rotating and packaged equipment.

· Strong working knowledge of applicable mechanical codes and standards, including relevant ASME, API and CSA requirements.

· Experience with pressure vessels, piping systems, pumps, compressors and mechanical equipment packages, as applicable to project scope.

· Experience with equipment specifications, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, vendor document review, fabrication support and procurement coordination.

· Experience supporting multi-disciplinary projects through concept development, FEED, detailed engineering, construction, commissioning and start-up.

· Demonstrated ability to provide technical guidance, complete quality reviews and resolve complex engineering issues.

· Strong client-facing, technical writing, communication, organization, analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

· Field, brownfield, facility modification or operating-plant experience is considered an asset.

· Legally entitled to work in Canada.
