Position OverviewPosition: Withdrawal Management Services Support WorkerReport To: Manager, Withdrawal Management ServicesDepartment: Withdrawal Management ServicesLocation: 146 Magnus Street, 71 MarthaPosition Type: Part-time (0.4 FTE), PermanentWage: $20.99 - $23.62Hours of Work: Days (07:30 to 16:00), Evenings (15:30 to 24:00)About the CompanyMain Street Project (MSP) is a community health centre that provides drug and alcohol withdrawal management services, health advocacy, case management, and other support for individuals experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness. Since 1972, MSP has aimed to address social determinants of health through a housing‑first and harm‑reduction approach.Job SummaryMSP provides Withdrawal Management Services to individuals at two locations: 75 Martha and 146 Magnus Avenue. The primary purpose is to help participants begin their recovery journey through detox stabilization that decreases risk, supports accessing long‑term treatment programs, managing external recovery needs through advocacy, and expanding resource capacity. Both sites provide 24‑hour support in a safe and stable environment at no cost to the participant.Staff conduct regular check‑ins with clients regarding their plans, goals and physical, emotional and spiritual well‑being and assist with the creation of individualized detox care plans to support and guide recovery.The Withdrawal Management Support Worker functions as a member of a team in providing services designed to assist and support all who enter the program with respect, dignity, and the participant's goals in mind.Duties And ResponsibilitiesEngage in intake coordination and review for incoming participants of MSP Withdrawal Management Program.Oversee intake into Withdrawal Management services including the review of medical clearance forms, completion of intake assessment forms, medication confirmation and review.Administration, tracking, and monitoring of medication.Work in collaboration on medical health scenarios with the MSP Nurse Practitioner and internal WFPS resources.Build relationships including one‑on‑one check‑ins and documentation for each participant.Support implementation of programming within the unit,
including participation.Advocacy and referral assistance for participants to internal MSP Case Management program and external services and resources based on participants' self‑determined goals.Assist participants in planning, problem‑solving, and addressing immediate needs, including providing meals, clothing, and hygiene supplies.Provide non‑judgmental support and resources to participants.Respond to emergency situations, assess, intervene, and document critical incidents; request assistance whenneeded or when an incident escalates beyond scope of role based on MSP Policy and Procedures.Ensure participants are informed of internal and external resources, services, and programs, and if needed.Ensure care provided meets professional standards.Collaborate and work professionally with all external partners.Maintain accurate and confidential electronic and paper file records.Collect and submit agency‑required statistics on time and with accuracy.Maintain cleanliness of the program area by following routine cleaning schedules each shift.QualificationsRelevant experience working in human services preferably with adults experiencing homelessness, mental health, and substance use issues.Post‑secondary education in addictions or mental health is considered an asset.Robust attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records.Ability to build and maintain relationships with external partners.Compassion for working with individuals who use substances and experience mental health issues.Ability to work with a client‑centered care philosophy.Ability to apply Harm Reduction and Housing First philosophies in day‑to‑day support of participants.Knowledge of poverty and its health determinants.Ability to collaborate in a multidisciplinary team.Knowledge of Indigenous culture.Lived Experience:
