About SASA The St. Albert Seniors Association (SASA) is a non-profit organization that serves as a vibrant activity center for older adults (50+) in St. Albert. With more than 900 members, we provide social, recreational, educational and wellness opportunities designed to help older adults stay active, connected and engaged in their community.
We are looking for a creative, organized and enthusiastic Social Media & Communications Coordinator to help tell the SASA story and showcase everything happening at our Centre.
About the Position
This position is responsible for managing SASA's social media presence across Facebook and Instagram, as well as producing our weekly electronic newsletter.
The successful candidate will be someone who enjoys creating engaging content, connecting with people online and finding creative ways to highlight our programs, events, members, volunteers, staff and community partnerships.
This is an opportunity for someone who can take ownership of our communications while working collaboratively with the SASA team.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media
- Develop and maintain consistent social media content for Facebook and Instagram
- Create, write and schedule engaging posts, stories, photos and short-form video content
- Attend SASA programs and events as needed to capture photos and content
- Highlight upcoming programs, events, activities, member stories, community partnerships and Centre news
- Monitor comments,
messages and interactions and respond in a timely, professional and friendly manner
- Build and maintain positive relationships with our online community
- Monitor social media trends and identify opportunities to increase engagement and reach
- Track basic social media analytics and provide regular updates on engagement and audience growth
E-Newsletter
- Create and distribute SASA's weekly e-newsletter
- Gather and organize content from staff and program areas
- Edit newsletter content as required
- Monitor newsletter performance, including open and click-through rates
General Communications & Marketing
- Help maintain a consistent SASA brand and voice across communications
- Work with staff to promote programs, events, fundraisers and membership
- Assist with promotional materials and other communications as required
- Stay current with social media and digital communications trends
Qualifications & Skills
- Previous experience managing social media accounts for an organization, business or community group
- Good photography and visual-content skills
- Creative and able to develop fresh ideas for social media content
- Comfortable creating content independently and working with minimal supervision
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Friendly, professional and comfortable communicating with the public
- Experience with Canva is an asset
- Experience with Mailchimp is an asset
- Experience with social media analytics/insights is an asset

Hours We are open to discussing either full-time or part-time hours with the successful candidate. Hours can be flexible and can be structured around the needs of the organization and the candidate.
Some in-person time at the SASA Centre will be required, particularly for capturing photos/videos, attending events and connecting with staff and members.
Compensation: $24 per hour
