We seek to hire a Truck and Transport Mechanic Apprentice to provide support in the diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of the RS fleet. This includes diagnostics, safety inspections, and maintaining an overall safe work environment.Formal education is not a strict requirement, as RS Express Ltd. instead values an individual with the knowledge, aptitude, and willingness to grow into a Truck and Transport Mechanic role.Job Duties and ResponsibilitiesAssist in performing maintenance, repairs, and inspections on all company facilities and equipment, including but not limited to: vans, trucks, trailers, skid steers, forklifts, and other equipment as deemed necessaryComplete scheduled preventative maintenance tasks as directedSupport the shop mechanics when conducting diagnostics to identify and troubleshoot issues including but not limited to: electrical issues, hydraulic issues, etc.Move vehicles to and from the repair shop as neededPerform road tests when required to ensure equipment is in proper working orderMay perform welding as neededMaintain cleanliness and proper condition of the shop workspace and tools used in the tradeEnter repair work orders in the shop management system for proper record-keepingPick up or deliver vehicles to external suppliers when requiredPick up parts and/or supplies from suppliers when requiredMaintain a safe working environment and adhere to company safety policies and proceduresParticipate in continuous learning of processes and equipmentOther shop duties that may be assigned from time to timeWhat does it take to be a part of our team?QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:Mechanic experience equivalent to a completed Level 2 Apprenticeship or higher is required; an equivalent combination of training and experience in the Truck and Transport/Heavy Equipment industry is accepted.Minimum of 2 years of experience in a maintenance shop environment is required.Successful completion of a Truck and Transport Mechanic Program or a similar trade is an advantage.Manitoba Safety Inspection Mechanic, Truck/Tractor, Trailer/Semi-Trailer Certification is preferred.Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence is required.Candidate is required to provide their own toolbox and CSA-standard safety shoes.
