On behalf of our client,

Boating BC Association , we are searching for an experienced

Administrative Assistant

in Richmond, BC. Can you see yourself as the person who keeps a busy office organized, helps members feel well supported, and ensures a wide range of priorities stay on course? If you enjoy variety, building relationships, and being someone others can count on, this could be a natural fit.

This is a visible, hands-on position where your organization, judgment, and initiative will make a meaningful difference. Working closely with the Executive Director, you will contribute across membership, events, Board support, communications, and day-to-day office operations. Experience within the boating or marine sector would be a strong advantage, helping you quickly understand the Association’s members, priorities, and industry; however, a genuine interest in the sector and a willingness to learn are also welcomed.

Based in Richmond, this in-office role offers a 30-hour work week, and a schedule designed to support work-life balance. The preferred arrangement is four days per week, with Fridays normally off, although some flexibility may be available in how the hours are scheduled.

About Boating BC Boating BC Association is a leading voice for British Columbia’s recreational boating industry and a trusted resource for marine businesses and boaters across the province. Through advocacy, education, industry leadership, and member support, the Association brings together professionals who share knowledge, build valuable connections, and help strengthen a vibrant and responsible boating community.

In addition to representing the industry at all levels of government, Boating BC delivers valuable member programs and produces major industry events, including the Vancouver International Boat Show, the Fall In-Water Boat Show, and its annual conference. Behind this work is a small but mighty team that collaborates closely with members, partners, suppliers, exhibitors, and the public to keep the industry connected and moving forward.

What Boating BC Offers





$26.00 to $29.00 per hour.

A 30-hour work week. The preferred schedule is four days per week, with Fridays normally off; however, some flexibility may be available to arrange the hours differently based on the successful candidate’s needs and operational requirements.

An in-office position in Richmond, BC, with free parking and convenient public transit to the building.

A varied and meaningful role with the prospect to take ownership, build relationships across the recreational boating community, and make a visible contribution to the work of the Association.

What You Will Do

Keep day-to-day office operations organized through correspondence, scheduling, meeting coordination, document preparation, filing, data entry, records management, and well-maintained administrative systems.

Provide responsive service to members and other contacts, supporting applications, renewals, onboarding, account updates, program questions, communications, and follow-up.

Prepare schedules, agendas, document packages, attendance records, and meeting notes or minutes for Board and committee meetings, as requested.

Support Boating BC’s external bookkeeper as needed by gathering and organizing financial documents, forwarding invoices and payment information, maintaining supporting records, and responding to routine requests.

Assist with the Member Savings Program and basic communications, including member emails, newsletters, website updates, social media, surveys, and promotional materials.

Help deliver boat shows, the annual conference, trade shows, and member meetings through registration, materials, logistics, customer service, and follow-up.

Our Ideal Administrative Assistant Brings

3-5 years of office administration or administrative support experience.

Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

Strong customer service and communication skills, with confidence responding to inquiries by phone and email.

Excellent organization, time management, accuracy, and attention to detail when working with records, documents, contact information, and financial information.

Sound judgment and discretion when handling confidential information, along with the initiative to work independently and contribute within a small team.

Assets That Would Help You Thrive

Experience in the marine, boating, association, membership, or not-for-profit sector.

Familiarity with QuickBooks Online and basic accounts payable, accounts receivable, and invoicing processes would be an asset.

Experience supporting large events, conferences, trade shows, or exhibitions.

Experience with email campaigns, social media, website updates, or basic content development.

Major events and peak periods may occasionally require schedule adjustments, additional hours, or evening and weekend work at event locations in Greater Vancouver.
