The Greater Essex County District School Board invites applications from qualified, team-oriented individuals for the full-time position of Student Information Systems Supervisor. This is a permanent 12 month, Non-Bargaining position within the Information Technology Services Department.

RATE OF PAY: $95,368 to $112,148

Nature & Scope Of Position Reporting to the Manager of Information Technology, the Student Information Systems Supervisor is an integral member of the Information Technology's supervisory team.

The Student Information Systems

Supervisor provides leadership and technical expertise to the Student Information Systems (SIS) team. They are responsible for the Board's Student Information Systems, all related student applications, collection and submission of data to the Ministry of Education, and for the planning, staff development, and quality of service delivered by the team.

The successful applicant will be responsible for

- Supervise the Student Information Systems team this includes; set priorities and expectations, balance workload, monitor quality and progress, train, coach, mentor, set annual goals and objectives, identify opportunities for growth, and provide support to the team when issues cannot be resolved.
- Lead projects and reporting cycles that depend on Student Information Systems ensuring they are supported in a stable, efficient and optimized manner to maximize student achievement.
- Oversee the development and delivery of training, documentation and procedural guides for the SIS and other application systems, delivering training directly where appropriate.
- Prepare and maintain project status reports for the Manager of Information Technology.
- Act as the Board's primary liaison with the Ministry of Education and the SIS vendor in reporting requirements.
- Direct the collection, validation and electronic submission of all student related data required by the Ministry of Education, and oversee the audit and reporting process through to final sign-off.
- Meet critical deadlines without compromising close attention to detail and accuracy to ensure timely compliance is met with Ministry reporting requirements.
- Commit to service excellence and exceptional customer service in a multi-client environment, with the ability to act as the escalation point for the team,



including on-call and emergency/escalation work requirements.
- Oversee the development of business and functional requirements for new and existing systems; evaluate and recommend vendor solutions, prioritize, scope and assign in-house requests for new functionality.
- Establish and maintain standards and procedures that keep the team's work aligned with the ITS application architecture and roadmap.
- Maintain current knowledge of Ministry reporting requirements, student information systems, and project and service management practices.
- Demonstrate a commitment to and documented success in working to create a fair, inclusive, anti racist environment for all stakeholders, and to supporting diverse constituencies and populations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager of Information Technology.

Qualifications The successful applicant will possess:

- Post secondary degree or diploma in technical training in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent, as approved by the Board.
- A minimum of 7 years of practical experience in supporting enterprise application systems and rolling out new software solutions.
- A minimum of three years of IT supervisory experience and/or leading IT projects, preferably within a large institution or public sector environment.
- Experience working in a unionized setting is an asset.
- Demonstrated experience communicating effectively with technical and non-technical staff across multiple disciplines.
- Knowledge of Ministry of Education reporting practices and business rules as they relate to student enrolment and achievement.
- Experience leading the implementation and support of enterprise applications in a mission-critical environment; experience with a K–12 student information system is an asset.

- Knowledge of project management practices and the software development lifecycle; PMP, CAPM or equivalent certification is an asset.
- Familiarity with IT service management practices (e.g., ITIL), including incident, request and change management, is an asset.
- Strong understanding of data quality, validation and privacy practices, including obligations under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA).
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, as well as analytical and problem solving skills.




- Familiarity with the Board’s application, database and reporting technologies (e.g., .NET/C#, PHP, Java, JavaScript, SQL Server, modern web frameworks, reporting tools) is an asset.
