CCHR seeks a dedicated Lawyer specializing in tenant rights in Toronto, with a flexible remote work setup. Use your Ontario housing law expertise to advocate for vulnerable renters.
This full-time role at CCHR will involve significant client interaction and case management, supporting low-income tenants facing housing challenges. You will play a crucial role in representing clients, negotiating disputes, and collaborating with community partners. Key Responsibilities:
• Represent clients at eviction hearings and tenant applications
• Conduct legal negotiations and mediation with landlords
• Maintain detailed notes and client records in relevant systems
• Build relationships with community organizations and service providers
• Facilitate educational workshops on housing rights
Requirements:
• Called to the Bar of Ontario with at least 3 years of legal experience
• Proven experience with landlord-tenant legal matters
• Solid familiarity with housing law and equity-seeking issues
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and legal management tools
