Role Description This part-time, Mental Health Clinician role is based at The Lighthouse Institute in Toronto, ON or remotely, with a direct focus on adolescents, young adults, and post-secondary students. The clinician will conduct youth-centered intake assessments, develop individualized treatment plans, and provide ongoing therapeutic support tailored to the unique developmental, relational, and academic challenges facing young people. Day-to-day responsibilities include delivering individual and family counseling, coordinating care with post-secondary campus services and community organizations, and engaging in active case management to support continuity of care.
The role also involves maintaining accurate clinical documentation, participating in team consultations, and contributing to youth mental health program development.
The clinician will collaborate with internal colleagues and external youth partners to ensure ethical, culturally responsive, and trauma-informed services.
Qualifications
- Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or a related mental health discipline.
- Youth & Student Specialization: Specialized clinical experience supporting adolescents, post-secondary students, and young adults dealing with academic burnout, identity development, life transitions, anxiety, depression, and emerging mental health concerns.
- Social Work & Case Management: Proven background in assessing youth-specific needs, navigating campus and community resources, and advocating for student clients.
- Psychology & Behavioral Health: Knowledge and training in evidence-informed interventions adapted for young populations (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, solution-focused therapy).
- Relational & Family Therapy: Competence in family-based treatment and parent/caregiver engagement strategies to support relational dynamics during the transition into young adulthood.
- Skilled Licensure: Current registration/licensure in Ontario (e.g., Registered Social Worker, Registered Psychotherapist, Psychologist) or eligibility to obtain it.
- Inclusive & Affirming Care: Experience delivering culturally responsive, anti-oppressive care to diverse youth populations, including racialized, newcomer, low-income, and 2SLGBTQIA+ young adults.
- Crisis Response & Team Collaboration: Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to youth mental health crises, maintain healthy professional boundaries, and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
