We are looking for a motivated GIS Technician. You will support field crews, project managers, and environmental scientists by managing spatial databases, creating maps, and processing GPS data.
Key Responsibilities
- Input, edit, and maintain complex geospatial datasets, ensuring high topology and metadata standards.
- Design, produce, and update high-quality thematic maps, figures, and web-mapping applications for environmental impact assessments and client reports.
- Configure and manage mobile data collection workflows (such as ArcGIS Field Maps , Survey123, or Avenza) for field crews.
- Perform basic spatial analysis tasks, including buffer zones, terrain analysis, and environmental constraint mapping.
- Liaison with project teams to translate field data into actionable geographic insights.
Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Geomatics,
Geography, or a related environmental discipline is preferred.
- Robust proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and extensions. Familiarity with QGIS or AutoCAD is an asset.
- Experience processing GPS/GNSS field data and working with coordinate systems relevant to Western Canada (e.g., NAD83 / UTM zones).
- Familiarity with environmental data collection methods and Trimble or similar GPS hardware.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to work effectively across multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple project deadlines.
