Drive resource management and cultural preservation as the Heritage and Natural Resource Manager with the Council of the Haida Nation in Masset, Haida Gwaii. This role is integral for implementing key land use strategies and resource policies.
Reporting to the Director of Lands, you will lead programs associated with various strategic agreements, while closely managing a committed team. You will focus on budget oversight, GIS mapping, and cultivating collaboration with other departments to enhance resource stewardship. This position is critical to the preservation of Haida heritage and involves managing both people and programs effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
• Direct operations related to Heritage & Natural Resources
• Manage and supervise team functions and training initiatives
• Oversee development of HNRD budgets and work plans
• Participate in necessary oversight and management panels
• Provide resource support in emergency situations
Requirements:
• Undergraduate degree in Natural Resource Management or similar
• At least three years of relevant experience
• Solid communication and leadership skills
• Knowledge of local culture and natural history
• Valid class 5 B.C. driver’s license
