This position involves complex electrical and mechanical work, regular travel, working at significant heights, and responding to urgent breakdowns. You’ll work independently and as part of a service and erection crew to keep customer equipment safe, reliable, and operating efficiently.

What You’ll Do

- Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tower cranes at customer jobsites and in the shop.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and electronic issues involving motors, variable frequency drives, control systems, and related components.
- Complete mechanical maintenance and repairs, including gearbox servicing, slewing-ring lubrication, and cable inspections.
- Assist with the erection, testing, and commissioning of tower cranes at new jobsites.
- Use diagnostic equipment, electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical information to identify problems and complete repairs.
- Inspect equipment, document its condition, and recommend repairs or preventive action to reduce downtime.
- Complete service reports and other required documentation in accordance with manufacturer and industry standards.

- Operate company service vehicles and specialized rigging equipment safely and professionally.
- Identify and address hazards associated with working at heights, crane erection, and active construction sites.
- Follow all company, customer, and regulatory safety requirements and maintain clean and secure work areas.
- Respond to urgent “crane down” service calls, including evenings and weekends when required.
- Work professionally with customers, contractors, and other members of the service and erection crews.

What You Bring
- Valid Journeyperson or Red Seal certification as an Electrician, Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Millwright, or another relevant trade.
- High school diploma or equivalent; post-secondary training in electrical, electromechanical, or mechanical systems is preferred.
- Three to five years of related experience working with heavy equipment, tower cranes, or other large lifting systems.
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Experience using diagnostic equipment and specialized hand and power tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in safety-sensitive situations.
- Professional communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a crane service, rigging, and erection crew.

- Valid driver’s licence and ability to travel regularly to customer jobsites.
- Availability to work overtime, evenings, and weekends when required.
- Membership in IUOE Local 115, or willingness to become a member, as required under the applicable collective agreement.

Working Conditions
- Regular outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
- Frequent climbing and working at significant heights, including on crane masts and booms.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding work.
- Regular use of hand tools, power tools, diagnostic equipment, and personal protective equipment.
- Regular travel to customer jobsites.
- Strict compliance with fall-protection requirements and all company, customer, and regulatory safety procedures.
- Overtime and after-hours emergency work based on customer and project requirements.
