Job Summary: The Transportation Billing and Payables Supervisor oversees the day-to-day operations accounting team managing high-volume freight billing, collections, carrier settlements, and vendor payments. This role ensures financial accuracy, optimizes cash flow, and maintains strong vendor relationships by fully leveraging Blue Yonder (TMS) and TMW software platforms.
Responsibilities: Supervise, mentor, and evaluate a dedicated team of AR and AP billing clerks.
Distribute daily workloads across the team to balance billing, collections, and carrier settlement queues.
Serve as the primary escalation point for complex billing disputes, short-pays, or carrier payment Oversee daily operations within Blue Yonder and TMW, ensuring seamless data flow between transportation management and accounting modules. Audit system workflows to ensure rate confirmations, bills of lading (BOL), and proof of deliveries (POD) are matched and processed accurately.
Identify system inefficiencies and train staff on best practices to maximize the capabilities of Blue Yonder and TMW. Monitor high-volume freight billing for accuracy, including fuel surcharges and accessorial charges.
Manage aging reports and drive targeted collection efforts to minimize Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and bad debt.
Collaborate with sales and operations to quickly resolve client-facing billing discrepancies. Assist with Purchase Order (PO) invoices for agency staff and general company expenses.
Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and resolve invoicing discrepancies or carrier payment disputes quickly.
Ensure all financial transactions comply with standard company policies and procedures.

Experience: A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant transport accounting/billing experience, including previous experience managing a team of at least 10 employees.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Excel).
Knowledge of Blue Yonder (TMS) is a strong asset.
Knowledge of TMW or general Transportation Management Systems (TMS) is a strong asset.
Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Must be proficient in English; fluency in French is considered an asset.
Education: Completion of secondary school is required.
A college diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
