Underwriting Technician, Operations

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Technician to join our dynamic and growing Operations team in Canada. Reporting to the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will bring more than five years of relevant experience, along with strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative team player with strong process knowledge,

sound computer systems capabilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the commercial and/or specialty lines segments of the insurance industry.

Your Responsibilities

 Support a small team of full-time and part-time Operations Associates whose core functions include recording submissions, performing policy and premium data entry, and issuing policies and invoices across multiple lines of business

 Support policy administration processes

 Ensure timely and accurate data entry into internal systems

 Maintain proper file documentation

 Provide support to the Team Lead, Operations





 Assist with monitoring and reporting on the team’s accuracy, timeliness, and efficiency

 Support strategic business plans by working on or leading smaller projects focused on process improvement and workflow efficiency

 Support various underwriting departments from within the Operations team

 Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance underwriting processes and operational efficiency

Your Profile (Skills, Qualifications & Experience)

 5 years of related experience, preferably in underwriting support within property and casualty or specialty lines of business

 Understanding of insurance policy wordings and underwriting methods is a plus

 Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task

 Completion of or working on insurance courses is an asset

 Completion of a bachelor’s degree or equivalent would be an asset

 Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word & Outlook)

 Excellent oral and written English communication skills

 French and/or German language skills are considered an asset

 Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced team environment

 Entrepreneurial and self-motivated

What We Offer

 Competitive salary range of $75,000 - $85,000
