The Health and Safety Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and implementing the Town’s Corporate Health and Safety Program while also partnering with each department on their individual safety plans.Qualifications IncludeA High School Diploma or equivalent.Post secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field is an asset.Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a health and safety role, preferably within a municipal or public sector environment.Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.WorkSafeBC First Aid Certification is preferred.Membership in Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST), National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) or Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP).An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.Perks And BenefitsThe Town of Smithers offers a competitive wage ($42.34/hr), comprehensive benefits package, Municipal Pension Plan, and 15 days of paid vacation for the first year worked.Testing may be required during the interview process.
