About the Opportunity

We are currently recruiting an experienced Senior Android Developer on behalf of a leading enterprise technology organization supporting the development and enhancement of large-scale mobile applications.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced Android engineer who enjoys solving complex technical problems, designing maintainable mobile solutions, and working collaboratively within an Agile engineering environment.

The successful candidate will contribute throughout the software development lifecycle—from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, code review, and continuous improvement. The role will also provide opportunities to contribute to technical decisions and mentor less experienced developers.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and develop high-quality native Android applications and features for enterprise-scale mobile products.
- Analyze business and technical requirements and recommend appropriate technical solutions, frameworks, and design approaches.
- Apply established software engineering principles and Android design patterns to solve complex development challenges.
- Write clean, maintainable, testable, and efficient production code while considering performance, reliability, security, and other non-functional requirements.
- Develop and maintain automated tests to support application quality and stability.
- Evaluate existing application components and codebases for maintainability, scalability, and long-term technical viability.
- Conduct impact assessments for proposed application enhancements, architectural changes, and technical issues.
- Collaborate closely with Product Owners, architects, developers, QA professionals, and other business and technical stakeholders.
- Provide technical recommendations that support product and application development decisions.
- Participate actively in Agile/Scrum activities, including planning, refinement, reviews, and team discussions.

- Conduct peer code reviews and help maintain consistent engineering and coding standards across the team.
- Stay current with developments in the Android platform, SDK, libraries, and mobile development ecosystem, and recommend relevant improvements where appropriate.
- Communicate technical concepts and proposed solutions clearly to audiences ranging from business stakeholders to senior technical professionals.
- Create and maintain appropriate technical documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior developers, particularly around software engineering principles and Android development best practices.

Required Qualifications

- 5+ years of professional experience developing native Android applications.
- 3+ years of qualified Java development experience.
- Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Solid knowledge of Android application architecture and software design patterns.
- Hands-on experience working with Android libraries and integrating applications with RESTful APIs/services.
- Experience developing automated tests using JUnit and Android-specific testing frameworks such as Robolectric and Espresso.
- Ability to write maintainable and testable production-quality code.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to discuss requirements, architecture, and code with stakeholders at different technical levels.
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum software development setting.
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.

Nice to Have

- Career development experience using Kotlin.
- Knowledge of newer and emerging Android SDK components and platform capabilities.
- Experience implementing architectural patterns such as MVVM within Android applications.
- Understanding of authentication and authorization protocols such as OAuth and OpenID.
- Experience protecting sensitive application data using the Android Keystore.
- Knowledge of mobile application security principles and secure development practices.
- Experience incorporating accessibility considerations into mobile application development.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for more than someone who can simply implement assigned development tasks.

The ideal candidate is a senior engineer who can analyze technical problems, recommend appropriate solutions, communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and contribute to broader engineering decisions.

You should be comfortable reviewing other developers' work, providing constructive technical feedback, mentoring junior team members, and continuously identifying opportunities to improve application quality and engineering practices.

Qualified candidates interested in learning more about this confidential opportunity are encouraged to apply. Additional information regarding the organization and project will be shared with selected candidates during the recruitment process.
