The Role:

Are you a patient focused Lab Technician with medical administration experience and excellent written and telephone communication skills?

KMH Cardiology Centres Inc. is growing, and we are recruiting for a Lab Technician/Patient Care Coordinator for our busy specialist physician practice in Woodstock. This role will also provide coverage at KMH Kitchener as-needed.

The successful candidate will be a part of a team whose goal is to support physician practises and facilitate patient intake through timely, high quality and productive administrative care.

The Accountabilities:

The key accountabilities of this role are:

Patient Care

- Patient intake
- Perform ECG, Holter and Blood Pressure Monitor hook-up as needed.
- Inform and educate patients about tests and procedures as requested by physicians.
- Missed appointment follow-up.

Clinic Operations

- Coordination of daily clinic operations
- Optimize clinic capacity.
- Management of physician orders




- Process prescription renewal requests as directed by physician, in collaboration with administrative staff, within recommended timelines.

Records & Administration

- Maintain and update electronic medical records, including the patient chart. Perform tasks (including uploading, scanning, faxing and referrals) in support of patient care. Ensure patient confidentiality.
- Task management, including chart checks and report uploads.

Performance & KPIs

- Utilize Tableau daily to facilitate KPI attainment. Ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner within pre-defined KPIs for the team. Meet and achieve established KPIs.

Communication & Teamwork

- Answer and respond to enquiries by phone and in person in a respectful, efficient and timely manner.
- Attend team meetings and updates.
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure the best patient experience and outcomes.
- Foster a collegial, respectful clinic environment.

Required skills and experience:

- Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent

- Lab Technician (certified)

- Medical administration experience

- Proven ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced specialist clinic; prior clinic experience is an asset.

- BLS certification

- Robust knowledge of medical terminology

- Self-directed and detail-oriented, with the ability to multitask, set priorities, and meet objectives with minimal supervision.

- Excellent verbal and written communication, including superior telephone etiquette.





- Strong conflict-resolution skills, with the diplomacy to handle sensitive information discreetly.

- Effective analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent time management and organizational skills

- Proficiency with technology, including MS Office and EMR systems.

- Team-oriented

- The ability to provide coverage at KMH Kitchener as-needed.

Our team is passionate about healthcare and includes clinical, clinical support and business roles with an entrepreneurial approach. The Lab Technician team takes pride in our patient focused workplace and works very closely with other service and clinical teams at KMH.

This is a full-time role for 5 days/37.5 hours per week scheduled between Monday-Friday. Saturdays are required on rotation with the team.

The hours of work for the position are: 8.00 a.m.-4.00 p.m.

This position reports to the Manager, PCC and Clinical Support.
