Big Brothers Big Sisters operates from Bamford House, a welcoming and safe space where mentoring matches can meet, intake meetings are conducted, and ongoing support is provided. The facility is also available throughout the year for mentoring activities and community engagement.

We are a trusted and respected charitable organization seeking a compassionate, organized, and community-minded individual to join our team and help make a lasting difference in the lives of children, youth, volunteers, and families.

Position Summary:

The Mentoring Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and casework management of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lacombe and District mentoring programs in accordance with the National Standards of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada and agency policies.

The position is responsible for recruiting, assessing, training, matching, and supporting volunteer mentors and children/youth throughout the mentoring relationship. The Mentoring Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring matches are safe, healthy, meaningful, and focused on positive youth development.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

· Two-year post-secondary diploma in a related field such as social work, human services, child and youth care, education, family studies, or a related discipline. Equivalent education and relevant experience may be considered.

· Experience working with children and youth, particularly those experiencing adversity or barriers.

· Knowledge and understanding of child and youth development.

· Experience working with databases and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Strong documentation and record-keeping skills with excellent attention to detail.

· Professional, approachable, personable, and enthusiastic, with sound judgment,



tact, and discretion.

· Successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check and provision of three professional references.

· Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.

· Willingness and ability to travel throughout the BBBSLD service area.

· Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Match & Casework Management:

· Recruit, orient, interview, assess, and train children/youth, families, and volunteer mentors.

· Coordinate the matching of volunteer mentors with children and youth based on individual needs, strengths, interests, and compatibility.

· Continually assess, support, and monitor mentoring relationships in accordance with National Standards and agency policies throughout the life of the match, including match closure.

· Ensure match safety, healthy relationship development, positive youth development, and volunteer satisfaction.

· Identify, address, and work to resolve barriers that may affect the mentoring relationship.

· Coach and support volunteer mentors in responding to challenges experienced by children and youth, including those with complex needs.

· Utilize outcome measurement tools and match support resources to assess and strengthen the impact of mentoring on child and youth development.

· Apply a strength-based, youth-centred, and relationship-focused approach to all interactions.

Documentation & Program Quality:

· Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential records for children, youth, families, and volunteers in accordance with National Standards and agency policies.

· Ensure client and volunteer files are complete and maintained according to agency requirements.

· Effectively utilize agency databases and technology to enter, maintain, synthesize, and report program data.

· Complete required documentation, follow-up, assessments, and match support activities within established timelines.

· Remain current on applicable federal and provincial privacy legislation and BBBSLD privacy policies and practices.

· Ensure confidentiality and appropriate handling of all information relating to children, youth, families, volunteers,



and the agency.

Community & School Engagement:

· Build and maintain positive working relationships with schools, families, community organizations, youth-serving agencies, clubs, and other community partners.

· Represent BBBSLD professionally within the community.

· Support volunteer recruitment and community awareness initiatives.

Team & Agency Support:

· Work collaboratively with the BBBSLD team to achieve program goals and objectives.

· Support agency fundraisers, volunteer recruitment initiatives, events, and other activities as required.

· Contribute ideas and take initiative in program development and problem-solving.

Employment Details:

Job Type: Full-time

Hours: 35 hours per week

Schedule: Monday to Friday, with flexibility required to occasional evenings and weekends

Work Location: In-Person, Lacombe Alberta, with travel throughout the BBBSLD service area
