We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Pipe Cut-Off Operator to support the operation of our 1000/1200 machines. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely setting up and monitoring the cut-off process, maintaining product quality, assisting machine operators, and completing accurate production records.
Key Responsibilities
- Follow all company safety procedures and maintain a strong focus on workplace safety.
- Set up the cut-off equipment, including side rollers, cut-off sensors, and stencils, according to production specifications.
- Cut pipe to the required length and verify measurements for accuracy.
- Monitor welds and finished pipe for quality issues and clearly identify products requiring inspection or repair.
- Prepare and apply accurate, legible pipe stencils, including special material requirements.
- Mark each pipe with the correct pipe number and heat number.
- Assist machine operators during mill changeovers and coil splice operations.
- Assist with coil preparation and loading as directed.
- Inspect milling blades and rotate/change blades as required during coil changes.
- Clean milling chips, empty chip and scrap bins, and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Fill the flux hopper and maintain adequate supplies throughout the shift.
- Verify coil card information against the coil and production order, including width, thickness, coil number, and heat number.
- Report any discrepancies, unsafe conditions, or malfunctioning equipment to the operator or management immediately.
- Clean and properly store the stencil roller at the end of each shift.
- Ensure tools, lifting devices,
and equipment are returned to their proper locations.
- Communicate effectively with operators and other team members regarding production changes, quality concerns, and equipment issues.
- Arrive on time and provide proper shift-to-shift communication.
- Notify the operator when leaving the mill during a shift and notify management in advance of any anticipated absence or lateness.
Production Records & Documentation
- Complete all production reports and records accurately, legibly, and consistently.
- Record coil number, heat number, weight, machine number, job number, outside diameter, wall thickness, pipe length, flux, and applicable tolerances.
- Record each pipe's number and length on the Welding Report.
- Record coil changes, splices, and the footage at which splices occur.
- Record operating information including inside/outside amps, volts, and machine speed.
- Verify all information before submitting records to ensure they are complete and accurate.
- Clearly label all partial coils removed from the machine using the required information from the original coil card.

Experience:
