THE OPPORTUNITY
We are currently seeking a Software Developer to join our team. Reporting to the Manager, Software Development, and working closely with the IT team and other Teams, the successful candidate will manage and implement the design and development of custom business applications & data integration.
Key Responsibilities/Results
- Participate in the design and development of custom business applications & data integration for the Enterprise as required.
- Assist with administering company databases and providing DBA services
- Review, analyze, and modify programming systems, including coding, testing, debugging, and documenting programs.
- Responsible for writing high-quality source code to Enterprise standards and to implement fully tested solutions into production as required.
- Responsible for the design, development, & support of the Enterprise analytics reporting & metrics function
- Responsible for providing technical support (help desk, desktop, mobile computing) with a focus on minimal downtime
- Adhere to priorities as set out in the annual Operating Plan and Budget, and the Incentive Compensation Plan
Key Actions
- Participate in developing technical design & specifications, prototypes and production code for both Sultran and PCT.
- Ensure company source code and databases are backed up and protected according to best practices, as agreed by the VP, Technology, and company audit requirements.
- Support the specification development for software enhancements. Provide estimates, scope, & recommendations for IT solutions.
- Participate in the specification development for software to support proposed new businesses. Provide estimates and scope for IT solutions to support potential new third-party businesses.
- Work with, and maintain relationships with, key third-party external data trading partners and web services partners, and third-party contractors
- Maintain a solid understanding of the key technologies (architecture, methods, computer languages, development tools, databases, and related tools) in use within the Enterprise
- Support the Department with proactive engagement activities with key stakeholders throughout the organization
- Ensure full compliance with standards and directives with the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors
- Assist the VP, Technology in preparation of annual operating plans and budgets, and incentive compensation plans and report progress of execution throughout the year
Education and Credentials
- College or University diploma in computer science or equivalent experience
- Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD) or equivalent experience
- Certified Microsoft Full Stack Developer (CMFD) or equivalent experience
Technical competencies
- Proficiency with C# / .NET Core (minimum 5 years)
- Solid understanding of Design Patterns, SOLID principles, and OOP
- Experience with ASP.NET Core & Blazor
- Experience with API development
- Experience with DevOps, Git-based source control and CI/CD workflows
- Experience with cloud providers (preferably Azure)
- Familiarity with HTML / JavaScript / CSS
- Familiarity with Entity Framework
- Familiarity with databases such as SQL Server / Oracle
