About the Role

Regional Property Services Inc (RPSI), a division of the Regional Group of Companies, is currently looking for an experienced Building Technician for facilities in the Ottawa area. In this role, you will be responsible for the preventative maintenance and operation of base building systems, including plumbing, mechanical, HVAC equipment, electrical systems, and life safety systems, as well as some tenant owned equipment and how it relates to the building systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Electrical Systems: oversee all electrical systems both interior and exterior of the buildings in compliance with ESA. (i.e. change light bulbs, reset breakers.).
- Mechanical systems: operate and maintain mechanical systems and ensure compliance with governing authorities. (i.e. on/off heating/cooling and ventilation of building systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, heating elements, cooling towers, exhaust fans, unit heaters, hydronic heating, DX units, humidifiers, steam boilers,



generators dehumidifiers, fire panels, pumps, alarm and pull stations, windows, fans).
- Plumbing: operate and maintain all plumbing systems at the property. (i.e. washrooms fixtures, supply and drain lines, irrigation systems, sump pumps, etc.).
- BAS: ability to maintain computerized systems for efficient operation of equipment.
- Water Treatment: operate and maintain accurate logs of water treatment plans and maintain compliance as required.
- Respond to tenant requests in a timely manner and assist in solving issues as required; record all service performed.
- Ensure all Preventative Maintenance tasks are completed and documented as required.
- Monitor Contractor work to ensure Scope of Work is received.
- General maintenance to exterior (i.e., concrete repairs, sweeping, shoveling, painting, and garbage removal, enclosures are functional and clean, etc.).
- Roof: inspect and maintain the roof system to perform as designed.
- Life Safety: ensure all building Life Safety systems are operating and maintained as prescribed.
- Elevators: ensure all elevator tracks are clean and free of debris and the system operates as designed; licenses are up to date and posted; contractor is performing maintenance on schedule, abide by TSSA compliance regarding testing.
- Perform minor carpentry, drywall, and building repairs as required.
- Obtain and maintain all required certified training.
- Perform all work according to the municipal/provincial/federal health and safety guidelines and standards; document actions where required.
- Organize, clean and maintain all storage areas, electrical, mechanical, and telecom rooms throughout the buildings.
- Obtain quotes for work as required and present them to the Property Manager for approval and PO creation.
- Maintain on-call rotation duties as required.
- Overtime work as required within reasonable request by Property Manager.
- Other duties within the scope, spirit,



and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

About you:

- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience in a related field, or BOMA SMT/SMA, Building Technician certificate from a recognized post-secondary facility.
- Ability to take initiative, self-starter.
- Outlook and Excel skills required.
- Knowledge of building automation systems.
- Experience using MRI Angus Anywhere considered an asset.
- Experience with electrical and mechanical systems.
- Life safety system experience.
- Bilingualism is considered an asset.
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain PWGSC Level II Security Clearance for the duration of employment.
- Must have and retain a valid driver’s license, and vehicle is required for emergencies and on-call purposes.
