Job Summary
- To assist in executing Ski lessons, under the supervision of a certified Ski Pro primarily for tots, with children and adults’ lessons based on scheduling. All lessons are beginner to intermediate level.
- To develop skiing and teaching skills within the Apprentice Program.
This program will:
- Help increase your level of professionalism
- Provide a training plan and progress reports to help you achieve your level 1 certification
- Provide overall skill improvement under the guidance of a course conductor and certified Instructors
- Introduce you to the fun world of being a ski instructor!
Key Responsibilities
The Instructor Apprentice is expected to adhere to the policies of Mount Washington Alpine Resort and Snow School. You will always work under the supervision of a certified ski instructor. You are expected to follow instructions and always do your best, if you have questions, concerns or criticisms, please speak with the Programs Coordinator or the Snow School Supervisors. The Snow School Manager’s office is ALWAYS open if you have any concerns.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Must be 15 years of age
- Assist in lesson areas prior to lesson start
- Assist with loading and unloading at Lifts
- Assist certified instructors to teach lessons to different ability levels and ages
- To perform other duties, such as, but not limited to:
- Terrain set up and tear down
- To participate in all development training sessions as part of the Apprentice Program
- Upon successful completion of the exam, Apprentices can choose to work in any Snow School as a certified Level 1 instructor.
- Participants are required to pay the exam fees prior to the start of the one day exam.
Availability:
- You must attend all development training sessions and lesson shadows to meet the requirements of the program and be eligible to take the level 1 exam.
- Saturday’s starting January 9th until the Exam on March 27th
- This program is on a volunteer basis
- Level 1 exam fee payable to CSIA or PSIC
