Job Summary

The Warehouse Associate is responsible for the safe, accurate, and effective movement of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods within a food manufacturing facility. This role operates both sit-down and stand-up forklifts, supports inventory control activities, ensures compliance with food safety and quality standards, and maintains a clean and organized warehouse environment.

The Warehouse Associate plays a key role in ensuring materials are received, stored, transferred, and shipped in accordance with company procedures, food safety requirements, and regulatory standards.

Duties

Receiving and Inventory Control

- Receive incoming raw materials, packaging, and supplies.
- Verify shipments against purchase orders, packing slips, and receiving documentation.
- Inspect incoming materials for damage, contamination, or discrepancies.
- Accurately record inventory transactions in warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, or inventory logs.
- Label and store materials according to FIFO (First-In, First-Out) and FEFO (First-Expired, First-Out) requirements.
- Conduct cycle counts and assist with physical inventory counts.

Forklift Operation

- Safely operate sit-down counterbalance forklifts to load, unload, and transport materials.
- Safely operate stand-up reach trucks and/or electric pallet jacks for racking and warehouse storage activities.
- Complete daily pre-operational forklift inspections and report deficiencies.
- Follow all company safety procedures and provincial regulations regarding powered industrial equipment.
- Maintain forklift certification and operate equipment only within authorized training requirements.

Production Support

- Supply production departments with required ingredients, packaging,



and materials.
- Transfer finished goods from production areas to designated warehouse storage locations.
- Return unused materials to inventory following established procedures.
- Ensure material availability to support production schedules.

Shipping and Distribution

- Pick, stage, and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Load and unload trucks while maintaining product integrity.
- Verify shipping documentation, lot codes, quantities, and pallet configurations.
- Assist with carrier coordination and shipment scheduling as required.

Food Safety and Quality

- Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), sanitation, allergen control, and food safety procedures.
- Follow HACCP, Preventive Controls, and food safety programs.
- Immediately report food safety, quality, or inventory concerns.
- Participate in internal audits, inspections, and corrective action activities as required.

Housekeeping and Safety

- Maintain warehouse cleanliness and organization.
- Ensure aisles, emergency exits, and work areas remain clear and safe.
- Follow all Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Report hazards, incidents, injuries, and near misses promptly.

Experience

- Minimum 1–2 years of warehouse experience,



preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts required.
- Experience with inventory management systems and RF scanners considered an asset.
- Experience working within GMP-regulated environments preferred.

Certifications

- Valid forklift certification required or ability to obtain certification upon hire.
- Food Safe Level 1 certification considered an asset.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

- Strong understanding of warehouse operations and inventory control.
- Knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.
- Ability to safely operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory software.

Ability to read and understand shipping and receiving documentation.

Physical Requirements

- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg) regularly.
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting.
- Ability to work in refrigerated, freezer, or ambient warehouse environments as required.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial equipment throughout the shift.

Working Conditions

- Food manufacturing and warehouse environment.
- Exposure to varying temperatures, including refrigerated and freezer areas.
- Shift work, overtime, weekends, and statutory holidays may be required based on production needs.

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
