Settlement Interpreters

(Amharic- Bengali- Kakwa- Kirundi- Kinyarwanda- Kurdish- Nuer- Oromo- Rohingya-Spanish-Telugu- Ukrainian.)

ISANS Interpretation Services is looking into recruiting Settlement Interpreter candidates for various languages, as part of support services for clients and staff. Reporting to the Supervisor, Family, Children & Specialized Settlement Services, these positions will be responsible for:

Providing settlement support to eligible clients by:

- Assisting staff and clients with language interpretation in the delivery of ISANS programs and services.

The ideal candidate for this position will have the following:

- Proven proficiency in English, the required CLB level for language interpretation is minimum 7/7(speaking and understanding), IELTS: IELTS: 6.5 or Canadian education (university/college), certificate/diploma
- Proven proficiency in the first language
- Resident of Nova Scotia for a minimum of one year and eligible to work in Canada
- Demonstrated personal suitability for interpretation
- Willingness and ability to complete 35 hours interpreter training course
- Availability to provide interpretation on-site or remotely during office working hours
- Committed for a minimum of one year to ISANS interpretation

Terms of Employment:

- Indefinite term service purchase agreement
- Interpreters are contractors to ISANS and work on a need/on-call basis
- Work location will vary depending on the type of assignment
