As the Team Lead, Power Systems Field Operations and Maintenance, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the Traction Power Section, including the Substation and Overhead Contact System (OCS) teams, ensuring the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of Light Rail Transit (LRT) traction power systems. You will ensure maintenance, capital work, and emergency response activities comply with regulatory, operational, and safety standards. Primary duties include:

- Lead and oversee Power Systems field operations, including maintenance, capital project delivery, and emergency response activities.

- Lead workforce planning, recruitment, hiring, performance management, employee development, discipline, and succession planning in accordance with corporate policies, collective agreements, and legislative requirements.

- Provide technical leadership and operational guidance to Coordinators and field staff, and collaborate with Transit Operations, Engineering, Safety, Fleet, contractors, and other interested parties to support safe,



efficient, and reliable service delivery.

- Foster and maintain a physically and psychologically safe workplace while promoting accountability, employee well-being, and continuous improvement.

- Oversee the planning, prioritization, resourcing, and execution of maintenance and capital work programs through internal staff and external contractors.

- Manage tools, equipment, materials, vehicles, and operational processes to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the Calgary Transit Power Systems Operations and Maintenance Manual, applicable industry standards, and technical specifications.

- Assess workforce capacity, coordinate contractor resources, and ensure maintenance and capital work is delivered in alignment with operational priorities and service requirements.

- Support incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, design reviews, and construction coordination activities.

Qualifications

- A completed 2-year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology (or a related discipline), a Journeyperson certificate in an electrical trade, a relevant degree, or other relevant post-secondary education combined with experience in electrical, utility, railway, transit, or infrastructure operations.

- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.

- At least 8 years of progressively responsible experience in traction power, electrical utilities, railway electrification, industrial power systems, transit operations, or other critical infrastructure environments,



including at least 3 years in a supervisory role overseeing exempt and/or unionized staff.

- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams, and other business productivity applications is required.

- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent) with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.

- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.

- Project management, leadership, or supervisory training and certifications will be considered an asset.

- Experience with LRT traction power systems, including substations, OCS, SCADA, and protection and control systems will be considered an asset.

- Experience leading maintenance, operations, capital projects, and contractor-delivered work in transit, utility, railway, or other critical infrastructure environments will be considered an asset.

- Experience leading a unionized workforce and working within collective agreements will be considered an asset.

- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as Hexagon EAM, Maximo, or similar systems will be considered an asset.

- Strong leadership, communication, planning, and organizational skills, with the ability to build high-performing teams, foster a physically and psychologically safe workplace, establish accountability, and effectively manage operational priorities and resources.

- Compensation: Level M1 $115,627 - 144,534 per annum
- Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.
- Days of work: This position works a 5-day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.
