Job Overview
We are seeking a Project Controls Engineer or Specialist to support the planning, monitoring and successful delivery of a power generation project. The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, procurement, construction and site teams to maintain effective control of project costs, schedules, risks and changes.
Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain the project cost baseline and control budget.
- Track commitments, actual expenditures, accruals and project cash flow.
- Prepare cost forecasts and estimates at completion.
- Develop and maintain realistic project schedules.
- Monitor milestones, critical-path activities and key deadlines.
- Identify schedule delays and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify, assess and track project risks and opportunities.
- Support the development and implementation of risk-mitigation plans.
- Maintain project risk, issue and action registers.
- Administer the project change-control process.
- Evaluate proposed scope, cost and schedule changes.
- Monitor trends and help prevent uncontrolled scope growth.
- Prepare regular project-controls reports,
dashboards and progress updates.
- Participate in project meetings and conduct regular visits to the job site.
- Work with contractors and project personnel to confirm the accuracy of progress and performance information.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in engineering, construction management, project management, business or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years experience in project controls, cost control, scheduling or project management.
- Experience with power generation, industrial construction, energy or other major capital projects is preferred.
- Working knowledge of project scheduling and cost-control systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and project-management software such as Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
- Solid analytical, organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, construction and commercial teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly to the project site.
