Social Media & Video Content Coordinator – Prep’n Sell Vancouver Island

Freelance / Casual Contract | Approximately 7 hours per week
Hybrid in Nanaimo, BC: remote planning, editing and scheduling, with occasional in office photo and video capture around Nanaimo.
Posted pay range: CA$19–CA$20/hour. Hours worked are normally invoiced at CA$20/hour.

About the opportunity

Prep’n Sell is a Canadian home improvement brand helping homeowners and real estate professionals prepare properties for sale with one point of contact. Our Vancouver Island franchise is looking for a reliable, creative freelancer to turn local projects into engaging social media content.

The main focus is creating short-form video and consistently scheduling and publishing polished content through SocialPilot. We welcome experienced freelancers, marketing students and early-career creators who can demonstrate strong content skills, organization and attention to detail.

Your main responsibilities

- Coordinate with the franchise owner to identify projects and arrange occasional on-site content capture around Nanaimo.
- Capture clear smartphone photos and vertical video of active and completed projects, including before-and-after shots and short project clips.
- Develop simple video ideas and scripts, and edit footage into engaging Reels and other short-form videos using CapCut, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud or similar tools.
- Write concise, professional captions and check spelling, grammar, tagging, hashtags, links, video captions and visual quality before content is approved and published.
- Follow brand guidelines, templates and the Local Marketing Playbook, and schedule and publish approved content through SocialPilot across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile as appropriate.
- Maintain an agreed content calendar and a consistent posting schedule within the available weekly hours.

- Keep photos, raw footage, edited videos, captions and project assets organized in the shared Google Drive using clear folders and file names.
- Collect project photos and customer testimonials, respond appropriately to comments and messages, and support relevant local community content.

Required monthly marketing snapshot

At the end of each month, prepare a concise marketing performance snapshot for the franchise owner and Head Office. Use available platform analytics and Constant Contact reports for the email campaigns sent by Head Office. Include:

- Social media posts and videos published, video views, reach and impressions.
- Engagement such as likes, comments, shares and saves; follower growth; and top-performing content.
- Social media enquiries or leads and Google Business Profile activity where available.
- Email marketing statistics: emails sent and delivered, delivery rate, bounces, opens and open rate, clicks and click-through rate.
- A brief comparison with the previous month, what worked well and practical recommendations for the following month. Clearly note any unavailable metrics.

Secondary marketing support

As time permits, assist with light, professional outreach and follow-up with local Realtors and referral partners, update contact lists, and review bounced email contacts to help locate current business contact details. These duties are secondary to video creation, social media publishing and monthly reporting.

Skills and equipment

- Ability to capture and edit clear, engaging short-form video and create simple before-and-after content.
- Strong written English, spelling and grammar, with careful quality control.
- Familiarity with Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile, plus basic social media and email marketing analytics.
- Experience with SocialPilot or a similar scheduling tool such as Hootsuite, Buffer or Meta Business Suite, and willingness to use our SocialPilot workflow.
- Comfort with Google Drive, Gmail and Google Calendar, and reliable file organization and follow-through.
- A computer or laptop, reliable internet and a smartphone capable of capturing clean 1080p or better photos and video and supporting login verification.
- Ability to attend occasional project sites around Nanaimo. A tripod, gimbal or clip-on microphone is an asset but is not required.

Hours, compensation and collaboration

- Freelance / casual contract work, approximately 7 hours per week, generally spread over 3–5 days.
- Flexible remote work for planning, editing, scheduling and reporting, with some business-hours availability for coordination and local on-site content capture.
- Indeed pay range: CA$19–CA$20 per hour; normally invoice for hours worked at CA$20 per hour.
- Communicate with the Vancouver Island franchise owner, with training, templates and brand oversight from the Head Office marketing team.

Please submit your resume and a short note about your experience or interest in social media and video content creation. Include examples of your work if available, such as Reels, short videos, social media accounts, school projects or a portfolio. Personal and student projects are welcome.
