Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced 6G Pipe Welder with strong skills in TIG (GTAW) root welding and Stick (SMAW) welding.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience welding carbon steel pipe in the 6G position, with the ability to produce high-quality, code-compliant welds using GTAW and SMAW processes. This position requires a welder who is comfortable working in fixed-position pipe welding applications, reading welding procedures, and maintaining consistent quality throughout the root, fill, and cap passes.

The successful candidate will be required to complete a 6G pipe welding qualification test.

Key Job Responsibilities

- Perform 6G pipe welding on carbon steel pipe.
- Complete GTAW (TIG) root welding, including the required two-pass GTAW root.
- Perform SMAW (Stick) fill and cap welding.
- Maintain proper welding technique, travel speed, amperage, and arc control throughout all welding passes.
- Prepare and inspect joints before welding, including checking fit-up, alignment, bevel, root opening, and cleanliness.
- Perform grinding and cleaning between passes as required.
- Produce consistent, high-quality welds with proper penetration, profile, and appearance.
- Identify and correct welding defects or irregularities.
- Follow approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)



and project requirements.
- Read and understand welding symbols, drawings, specifications, and procedures.
- Maintain proper electrode handling and storage practices.
- Use appropriate PPE and follow all workplace health and safety requirements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Work effectively with pipe fitters, welders, supervisors, and other trades.
- Complete weld inspections and make necessary repairs when required.
- Maintain productivity while meeting required quality standards.

Required Qualifications & Skills

- Previous qualified experience as a pipe welder.
- Demonstrated experience welding in the 6G position.
- Strong GTAW/TIG pipe welding skills.
- Strong SMAW/Stick welding skills.
- Experience welding carbon steel pipe.
- Ability to complete a practical welding qualification test.
- Ability to read and follow WPS, drawings, and welding specifications.
- Knowledge of ASME welding requirements is an asset.
- CWB knowledge is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to weld quality.
- Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fabrication/shop environment.

Pay: $37.00-$40.00 per hour
