About the Role

We are seeking a Family Litigation Lawyer to join our team on a part-time or by-case basis. The ideal candidate has practical experience handling family law litigation matters in Ontario, including separation, divorce, parenting issues, child support, spousal support, property division, and related court proceedings.

This role is suitable for a lawyer who can independently manage family litigation files, provide clear legal advice to clients, and represent clients through negotiation, mediation, case conferences, motions, and court appearances where required.

Responsibilities

- Handle family litigation matters from intake to resolution
- Provide legal advice on separation, divorce, parenting time, decision-making responsibility, child support, spousal support, and property issues
- Draft, review, and prepare court materials, pleadings, financial statements, affidavits, conference briefs, motion materials, settlement offers, and related correspondence
- Represent clients in negotiations, mediations, case conferences, motions, and other family court proceedings where required
- Review and advise on separation agreements, parenting arrangements, support issues, and settlement terms




- Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and internal team members
- Manage files professionally, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable legal and ethical standards
- Maintain accurate file records, deadlines, and client communication

Qualifications

- Licensed lawyer in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario
- Experience in family law litigation is required
- Strong knowledge of Ontario family law procedures and court rules
- Experience with divorce, parenting disputes, support claims, property division, and family court proceedings is preferred
- Strong legal drafting, negotiation, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage files independently
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills
- Qualified, detail-oriented, and client-focused
- Mandarin or Cantonese language skills are an asset but not required

Job Types: Part-time, Freelance

Pay: $200.00-$250.00 per hour
