The Procurement Manager serves as a critical link between the company and its vendors, playing a key role in strategic procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiations. This role requires a strategic mindset to align procurement processes with the company's goals, ensuring cost-effectiveness, quality, and efficiency in vendor selection and management.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Act as the brand ambassador, communicating the company's strategic direction to vendors.
- Oversee the procurement function, including budget reporting, departmental staffing, and trade management.
- Develop a deep understanding of divisional metrics such as yearly sales forecasts, project budgets, and customer profiles.
- Negotiate pricing and set performance expectations with trade partners, addressing contractual non-compliance issues.
- Lead the tendering process for new projects, models, and vendors, aligning with divisional goals.
- Provide vendor selection recommendations based on timelines, budgets, and competitive market analysis.
- Lead value engineering and product development input across current and new builds, finding efficiencies that shorten build cycles, reduce cost per door, and raise overall customer value.
- Drive process improvement and systems building,
refining current systems and shaping system development to deliver cost savings per door, faster home delivery, and greater trade supplier capacity.
- Build strong relationships with Construction and Project Managers to understand operational needs and evaluate vendor performance.
- Leverage global supply chain opportunities for strategic local vendor partnerships.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Experience
Required
- Ethical foundation to always act in the best interest of the partnership.
- Robust existing relationships with vendors in the residential construction sector.
- Strong technical knowledge in construction, including local building codes, energy codes, and construction practices.
- Ability to clearly communicate business goals to trade partners is vital for forming strategic partnerships that align with our long-term objectives and enhance value for both parties.
- Strong negotiation skills coupled with the ability to establish positive relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.
- 10 year(s): Experience in an applicable construction industry role.
Education
Required
- Associate's degree or better in Other
