Position Overview

The Fire Extinguisher Recharging & Shipping/Receiving Technician supports both the service shop and warehouse operations at Lakeview Fire & Safety Inc. The role includes inspection, repair, recharging, hydrostatic testing, inventory control, packaging, and movement of fire extinguishers and related life‑safety equipment. This position ensures extinguishers are serviced to NFPA 10 standards and that all inbound/outbound materials are handled safely, accurately, and in compliance with Transport of Dangerous Goods (TDG) regulations.

Key Duties & Responsibilities Fire Extinguisher Servicing & Recharging

- Inspect, repair, and recharge portable fire extinguishers, wheeled units, and kitchen suppression cylinders.
- Perform hydrostatic testing and maintenance on extinguishers and fire hoses.
- Replace and service components including gauges, valves, hoses, O‑rings, and discharge nozzles.
- Complete 6‑year maintenance and 12‑year hydrostatic testing procedures according to NFPA 10 and manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate service records, tags, and compliance documentation.
- Assist field technicians by preparing extinguishers, parts, and equipment for service calls.
- Follow all TDG requirements when handling pressurized cylinders (UN1044 – Fire Extinguishers).





Shipping & Receiving

- Package extinguishers and equipment for shipment, ensuring compliance with TDG regulations for pressurized vessels.
- Prepare and complete all required shipping documentation, labels, and carrier paperwork.
- Receive inbound materials, verify contents against packing slips and purchase orders, and report discrepancies.
- File and follow up on freight damage or shortage claims.
- Perform cycle counts and support inventory control for extinguishers, parts, and shop supplies.
- Maintain accurate daily inventory logs and ensure proper storage of extinguishers and components.

Shop Support & General Duties

- Assist shop staff with assembly, prep work, and material handling.
- Pick up and deliver supplies, parts, and extinguishers to customer locations and suppliers.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace including shop, warehouse, and company vehicles.
- Support emergency and scheduled service operations as needed.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00-$24.00 per hour
