THE ROLE:

Reporting to the Food & Beverage Director and working with the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager and Food & Beverage Supervisor, the Bartender is responsible for preparing beverages requested by guests according to established standards, while providing friendly, efficient service, creating an atmosphere where guests feel welcome, comfortable and well attended to in accordance with hotel and food safety standards. Responsibilities will include:

· Set up bar in outlets or banquet facilities.

· Check the requisition to the delivery, and follows up on discrepancies.

· Greet guests and take drink and food orders.

· Prepare drinks and mix cocktails according to hotel specifications.

· Enter food and beverage orders at Point-of-Sale system.

· Present drinks to guests, obtain payment, and record payment and inventory accurately.

· Prepare guest checks for the drinks as they are served, placing the checks in front of the guest.

· Reconcile cash float at the end of the shift and return it to the safe.

· Load and unload glass washer replacing clean glassware into the overhead storage.

· Maintain par stocks.

· Tear down the bar, remove and dispose of garbage at the end of the shift.

· Complete requisition for the next day.

· Lock the bar and cabinets and return key to supervisor or manager.

· Ensure the well-being of guest and team members by being alert to and reporting potential hazards.

· Maintain complete knowledge of and strictly abide by provincial liquor regulations, such as but not limited to prohibiting service to minors, intoxicated persons and drunk driving.





· Monitor guests for intoxication and report such findings to the supervisor or manager immediately.

· Process credit card and room charges.

· Maintain complete knowledge of correct maintenance and use of equipment; use equipment only as intended.

· Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all departmental policies and service procedures.

· Anticipate guests' needs, respond promptly and acknowledge all guests, however busy and whatever time of day.

· Maintain positive guest relations at all times.

· Be familiar with all hotel services/features and local attractions/activities to respond to guest inquiries accurately.

· Carry out duties of a server from time to time.

· Handle guest complaints and ensure guest satisfaction.

· Adhere to payment, cash handling and credit policies/procedures.

· Maintain a high level of cleanliness, sanitation and safety within all outlets and banquet areas in accordance with health regulations and safety standards.

· Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications.

· Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform presentation and personal hygiene as required, providing a professional image at all times.

· Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner with colleagues assisting where necessary to develop team spirit and to achieve standards of work and guest care.

· Be familiar with appropriate action to be taken in the event of an emergency and assist as central communication center for hotel when required.

· Project an enthusiastic, optimistic, helpful attitude.

· Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time.

· Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10-50 pounds without assistance.

· Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by department heads/senior managers.

THE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE YOU HAVE:

· At least 2 years bartending experience within a Food and Beverage outlet or banquet department in a golf club, hotel or related hospitality operation.

· Bartending Course preferred.





· Hospitality management / culinary diploma or degree from a recognized college or university an asset.

· Demonstrated, advanced problem solving and communication skills.

· Takes Initiative within given guidelines and pays attention to detail, order and cleanliness.

· Has exceptional energy, flexibility and professionalism.

· Ability to adapt in a rapid paced, constant changing environment within a dynamic work schedule.

· Experience in handling cash an asset.

· Has a good understanding of health & safety regulations, as well provincial and city licensing laws & regulations.

· Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of associates and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner, listening to understand, and clarify any concerns raised by associates and guests.

· Good working knowledge of cocktails, spirits, food and wines as well as effective serving skills.

· Ability to work well under pressure.

· Self-motivated, friendly, upbeat, outgoing, mature person who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

· Computer literacy required: MS Windows and related hotel systems.

· Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently and constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

· Ability to perform basic counting and arithmetic functions.

· Food Safety and Pro Serve Certification required.

· First Aid Certification an asset.

· Must be available to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, weekends & public holidays. Hours of work will be scheduled based on business volumes/operational demands and will vary.

· Must be able to maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
