AdmissionPrep is a high-performance coaching company helping students take control of their post-secondary journey. We combine admissions expertise, academic skill development, and personalized mentorship to give students a competitive edge. We are looking for a thoughtful English tutor to help students in Grades 8 to 12 read closely, think clearly, and write with confidence.

The details

- Contract role: part time tutoring position.
- Pay: $20 to $23 per hour, depending on experience.
- Hours: after-school hours, mainly weekday evenings and weekends.
- Location: remote or from our Vancouver office (Canada-based applicants only; must be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident).
- This role is designed for flexibility. Many of our tutors balance it with other professional or academic commitments.

Responsibilities

- Tutor English 1:1 over video, across reading comprehension, literary analysis, and composition
- Coach essay writing from thesis to final draft: structure, argument, evidence, and revision
- Build grammar, vocabulary, and mechanics in context, not as worksheet drills




- Help students read novels, plays, poetry, and non-fiction with real understanding rather than plot summary
- Prepare students for unit tests, provincial literacy assessments, and final exams
- Track progress and give constructive feedback to students and parents
- Follow AdmissionPrep's tutoring methodology and training standards

Qualifications

- A Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Education, Communications, or a related field. Current Master's or PhD students are encouraged to apply.
- Teaching or tutoring experience with Grades 8 to 12 students, online or in person
- Strong command of the Canadian high school English curriculum
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Reliable, professional, and passionate about student success

Pay: $20.00-$25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 1.0 – 20.0 per week
