About the Role

Oakwood Roofing & Sheet Metal Co. is hiring a Service Manager to lead day-to-day operations for our Winnipeg service department. This role reports directly to the Senior VP of Operations and oversees our service department, with responsibility for safety, service delivery, client relationships, and business growth.

Roofing experience is not required. We're looking for a strong leader from a service-based industry — property management, vendor/facilities services, or similar recurring-service models — who is comfortable owning both operational process and client-facing sales.

The role is roughly split 50/50 between overseeing operations (job costing, forecasting, scheduling) and driving growth (client relationships, sales/marketing).

Responsibilities

- Lead the service department, including recruiting, onboarding, training, and performance management, while fostering a positive, collaborative team environment
- Manage the service and maintenance program end to end, including emergency response, on-call rotation, and preventative maintenance
- Oversee warranty, callback, and deficiency work, resolving root causes and ensuring workmanship meets manufacturer specifications and industry standards
- Coordinate with operations to equip field crews for success, and give crews feedback on documentation, app usage, and completed work
- Respond promptly to quote requests and recommendations to capture new opportunities
- Drive financial performance by reviewing job costing against estimates, managing margins, labour, and materials, and ensuring accurate, timely invoicing and collections




- Contribute to revenue forecasts, business plans, growth strategy, and equipment or vehicle purchase recommendations
- Build strong client relationships and hold subcontractors and suppliers to company safety, quality, and documentation standards
- Champion a robust safety culture through regular meetings, FLHA audits, site visits, hot work enforcement, and support for incident investigations, WCB claims, and return-to-work programs

Health and Safety Responsibilities

- Ensure workers are trained, supervised, and protected in accordance with health and safety legislation
- Ensure compliance with the company's health and safety program
- Lead or participate in incident investigations, near-miss reporting, and corrective action follow-up
- Stop work immediately where an imminent danger or unsafe condition exists

Qualifications

- Proven leadership experience in a service-based industry (roofing experience not required)
- Demonstrated ability to manage both operational process and revenue-generating client relationships
- Strong safety leadership and people-management skills
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regularly between branches and client sites
- Must be able to reliably work on-site in Winnipeg, MB
