Job Title: Campus United Community Connector

The Community Connector position is one of meaningful work centred around social justice, spirituality, community, as well as individual and systemic learning. We're seeking a curious, cutting-edge, and compassionate Uvic student to join the inclusive and open-minded campus ministry team.
Community Connectors work an average of 6-8 hours per week throughout the 2026-2027 academic year. This position pays $21 per hour. Successful candidates need to be willing to lead in an affirming (meaning LGBTQIA2S+ inclusive) religious community whose values include bold discipleship, daring social justice, and deep spiritualty. Previous experience with (congregational) church community is an asset, but not required.

Roles, Responsibilities and Tasks
Engagement
- Discern or create opportunities to engage with students in person (and online) at the post-secondary institutions they represent
- Participate in wider church and community events to network with post-secondary students looking for community
- Support Campus Ministers' engagement of various communities
Program Support
- Understand and interpret to the staff team the needs of students and young adults
- Work with the staff team in the delivery of existing programs
- Collaborate with the staff team in the creation and development of new programs
Orientation to Ethos of UCC Communities of Faith
- Engage with all activities, workshops, leadership development,
and planning throughout the summer.
- Share experiences and learning with those in the wider United Church of Canada by building a relationship with their assigned community of faith
- Attend UCC gatherings, including worship at local communities of faith, and educational events as requested
Gifts, Skills Experience and Qualities
- Experience in collaborative team leadership
- Openness to people of all faiths, sexual orientations, gender identities, neurodiversity, abilities and other marginalized/equity-seeking identities
- Able to design, organize and conduct programming
- Gift of hospitality
- Can articulate and share their own faith story in an authentic manner
- Ability to keep healthy boundaries and confidentiality
- Prowess in networking, community, and relationship building
- Willingness to work as a team
- Social media strategy
Schedule and Commitment
- Provide certification or willing to certify (as part of the summer hours) in the following: o Mental Health First Aid for Adults who interact with Youth - Mental Health Commission of Canada
- Emergency First Aid with CPR-C/AED
- FoodSafe Certification
- Able to provide a current Police Information Check for working with Vulnerable Individuals
Pay: $21.00 per hour
