Summary of Job:

The registered Social Worker (MSW) will provide short term therapy and counselling to adults 16 years and older, who present with non-acute, generalized mental health concerns.

Responsibilities:

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in providing short term counselling to individuals and groups specifically in the areas of generalized anxiety, depression, grief, situational based circumstances and health anxiety
- Experience in developing, implementing and evaluating treatment plans
- Ability to focus and treat identified mental health concerns within the complexities of larger health issues
- In-depth knowledge of community resources, programs and agencies available to clients and families of all ages.
- Provide information, referral service, education, advocacy, and service facilitation to clients and significant others relevant to client needs.
- Complete intake assessments, communicating and collaborating with other members of the health care team and primary care providers
- Develop person centered counseling plans
- Deliver individual psychotherapy appropriate for the needs of the referred individual.

Qualifications:

- Possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work
- A member in valuable standing with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including but not limited to the Mental Health Act, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and the Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA)




- Individual and group counselling experience
- Ability to work well independently
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a community setting
- Demonstrate sensitivity to diversity, whether related to race, religion, culture, sexual orientation, and/or gender identity
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check required
- Valid driver’s license with $2 million vehicle liability insurance
