MKM Projects Ltd. – Junior Estimator

Role Description

This is an ideal opportunity for someone out of school who wishes to pursue a career in estimating and construction on Vancouver Island. We are a hard working close-knit group of dedicated employees who love to build!

The Junior Estimator will work closely with our Senior Estimator in bidding, tendering and assisting in the pre-construction phase of our contracts.

Responsibilities

- Review Bid central for jobs that align with our goals.
- Field and track requests to bid projects.
- Assist Senior Estimator in developing bids for construction projects by studying plans and specification, strong attention to detail required.
- Responsible for managing Tender solicitations.
- Collect and analyze tender submission and review findings with Senior Estimator.
- Assist with creation of trade contract when required.
- Assist in creating Site Safety binders and traffic plans as needed.

Requirements

- A bachelor's degree in mathematics, architecture,



or a similar field -or- training from a technical training college like BCIT.
- Strong working knowledge of excel.
- Strong math skills including algebra, geometry and basic arithmetic.
- Ability to navigate specifications and plans.
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once.
- Knowledge of local building codes would be an asset, but not necessary.
- Close attention to detail.
- Proficient at picking up new software systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently.
- A strong work ethic, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills.

Compensation will be based on qualifications and experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
