Job Title: Intermediate Project Engineer
Core Hours: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Position Hours: 40 hours per week
Location: On-site role in Calgary office
Job Summary:
Denali Projects Ltd. (Denali) is an EPC located in Calgary, Alberta. We provide services for small to medium-sized energy projects in Canada and worldwide.
Denali is currently looking for an Intermediate Project Engineer to work with our project team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a similar role.
Project Engineer Responsibilities
The Intermediate Project Engineer will work with multiple disciplines to ensure all engineering activities are accomplished. Duties will include:
- Coordinate the activities of assigned engineering projects.
- Collaborate with the project managers to create more efficient project methods and maintain the project’s profitability.
- Project support work for design basis, budgets and schedules.
- Participate in facility planning and design.
- Detailed calculations, specification of equipment, review and check detailed engineering drawings.
- Develop Plot Plans, PFDs and PIDs.
- Prepare and review bids for equipment, piping packages, etc.
- Perform review and evaluation of equipment vendor design data, calculations and drawings and communicate with supplier and client personnel.
- Prepare regulatory submissions for facility projects to the AER, AENV, ABSA and other bodies as required.
- Prepare Line List, Equipment List, Instrumentation List, Tie-in List, and Vendor Lists.
- Plan, schedule and estimate design engineering effort from project design to completion.
- Communicate and facilitate status reports with the project team.
- Review and approve designs and supplier drawings.
- Compile construction work packages (CWP).
- Manage change documents (e.g., change notices, trends, scope changes).
- Coordinate design reviews.
- Prepare project plans for engineering deliverables.
- Approve project technical documentation.
- Ensure plans, instructions, standards, and work processes are followed.
- Prepare and maintain engineering control documents.
- Coordinate and respond to field requests for information (RFI).
- Coordinate shop inspection activities and review reports.
- Coordinate and expedite project materials ranging from equipment, modules, valves, etc.
- Performing other duties as requested.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical or Chemical preferred)
- Ability to attend site visits and meet safety requirements.
- Work well with a team in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Four to eight years of engineering experience, preferably in an EPCM setting.
- Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and changing setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Desire to learn and develop professionally.
Preferred
- Experience in energy industry projects
- Conflict Management experience
- Four to eight years of experience in engineering and design in conventional oil & gas projects
- P.Eng. registration with APEGA
