Job Title: Laborer (Waterproofer)

Terms of Employment:

- Position Type: Permanent, Full-Time
- Start Date: As soon as possible

Qualifications & Certifications:

- Required Certifications: CSTS-09 or CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015
- Driver’s License: Active Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License with a Clean Driver’s Abstract
- Language: English proficiency required

Required Experience:

- Industry Experience: Commercial, Institutional, and Industrial construction settings
- Specialized Skills: Waterproofing, Coatings (various types), Caulking, Flashing

Required Tools & Equipment:

- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Steel-toed safety boots
- Basic Hand Tools: Measuring tape, utility knife

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

- Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs.)
- Work Environment: Indoor and outdoor job sites with exposure to fluctuating temperatures, noisy and dusty conditions depending on the season
- Work Conditions: Fast-paced, physically demanding setting

Security & Transportation Requirements:

- Driving Record Check: A clean driving abstract is required
- Transportation: Must have reliable personal transportation to and from work

Essential Skills & Competencies:

Primary Responsibilities:

- Waterproofing: Apply waterproofing products to a variety of substrates
- Caulking: Precision caulking to ensure a clean, professional finish
- Application of Coating Systems: Application of systems such as Epoxy and Urethane coatings
- Equipment Operation: Operate motorized equipment, power tools (grinders, drills, saws), and open torch/flame equipment

- Reading and understanding technical documents, construction drawings, and manufacturer specifications
- Numeracy skills for accurate measurements and calculations
- Effective verbal communication and the ability to follow directions
- Teamwork and collaboration with crew members
- Decision-making and problem-solving on the job site

- Adaptability and a commitment to continuous learning
- Strong safety awareness and a "safety-first" mindset

Additional Skills (Preferred but Not Required):

- Mechanical Aptitude: Experience with engines, motors, and pumps is a strong asset
- Instruction & Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to junior team members as needed
