Title: Apprentice Welder

Shift(s):

Days-Monday to Friday-6:00AM - 4:30 PM; 10 hour days, 40 hours per week with an opportunity for overtime

Job Summary:

Rozen Steelworks specializes in the fabrication of pressure piping, power piping, and structural steel. We have just opened our second shop and are taking on even more project work as we continue to grow. This role is for a 2nd or 3rd year apprentice welder who will be performing welding duties as part of their apprenticeship, with a focus on pipe welding. The successful candidate will be tested internally by Rozen Steel Works Inc. and, upon successful completion, will be issued a company C Ticket qualifying them to weld on pipe. This is an internally administered qualification tested and issued by Rozen Steel Works Inc. — it is not a third-party or provincially issued ticket. Upon successful completion of the C Ticket, the employee will receive an additional $7/hour premium on their base rate.

Qualifications, roles and responsibilities:

- Assist Journeyman where needed;
- Perform basic cutting and welding of mild steel;
- Understand various weld form symbols on weld drawings and size of fillet welds required;
- Read and interpret work orders and produce work that adheres to specifications;
- Weld in all positions;
- Apply required procedural markings to the product;
- Conduct required pre-job/pre-task inspections;
- Complete scheduled work in cooperation with the Foreman;
- Maintain a tidy,



clean and secure work area;
- Follow safety protocols to ensure a safe work environment at all times;
- Other duties as required.

Requirements:

- Welding of butt welds, fillet welds, Flange Faces for Slip on welds on pipe.
- Mustbe a registered Apprentice Welder with a recognized provincial training authority;
- Experience with pipe/ structural fabrication;
- Experience using various hand tools (grinders, oxy/ acetylene torches etc.);
- CWB- FCAW/ MCAW certifications is considered an asset;
- Maintain secure work practices as outlined in company policies;
- Commitment to safety and safe work procedures;
- Self-motivated with an attention to detail;
- Ability to work well in a team environment;
- Complete required WHMIS training;
- Ability to work with little supervision.

Terms of Employment

- Full time- 40 hrs/ week + OT
- Wage as per Union Collective Agreement
- Upon successful completion of the C Ticket, an additional $7/hour premium will be added to the base rate.
