STORY BEHIND THE NEED
Reason for Request / Why Opened: Business need requiring additional support for a discrete project involving secured collateral documentation review and tracking.
Scope of Project: The contractor will review deal and loan documentation, identify secured collateral filings in the United States (UCC filings) and Canada (PPSA filings), and extract relevant information for tracking and reporting purposes.
Team Size/Culture: Individual contributor role working independently with support from the broader legal and operational teams as needed.

ADMIN / CLERICAL ONLY
Back-office vs Telephone Work: 100% Back-office work. No customer-facing or call-center responsibilities.
CANDIDATE PROFILE DETAILS
Degree/Level of Education: Paralegal Diploma, Legal Assistant Diploma, Law Clerk Diploma, or equivalent legal education preferred.
Certifications Required: Not required.
Years of Overall Experience: 4+ years of experience in a legal, paralegal, law clerk, loan documentation, or secured lending environment.

Preferred/Ideal Candidate Background:
· Law firm experience
· Commercial lending or secured lending experience
· Experience with PPSA and/or UCC filings
· Strong Excel skills
· Paralegal or legal assistant background
SUMMARY OF THE ROLE
Typical Day-to-Day Responsibilities
· Review loan and deal documentation.
· Identify and validate collateral filings.
· Review PPSA filings in Canada.
· Review UCC filings in the United States.
· Extract and track filing information in Excel.
· Maintain accurate records and reporting logs.
· Support collateral tracking initiatives and project deliverables.
How Much Time Is Being Spent in Meetings?
Approximately 10-20%; majority of time will be spent reviewing documents and completing analysis independently.

MUST-HAVE HARD SKILLS
1. Knowledge of PPSA filings (Canada) and/or UCC filings (United States).
2. Strong Excel proficiency and exceptional attention to detail.
3. Previous experience working in a law firm, legal department, or related legal workplace.
4. Experience reviewing legal, loan, financing, or collateral documentation.
5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
SOFT SKILLS
1. Strong attention to detail.
2. Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
3. Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
NICE-TO-HAVE
1. Paralegal certification or diploma.
2. Experience in a law firm environment.
3. Experience supporting secured lending, commercial lending, or collateral management functions.
