MLTS Canada is looking for reliable and motivated Field Technicians to support upcoming commercial, retail and industrial projects in Saskatoon and other Saskatchewan locations.
This position will initially be offered on a contract/project-based basis, with opportunities to move into regular part-time or full-time employment as our project workload grows and based on performance, reliability, technical ability and availability.
Responsibilities
Depending on the project, duties may include:
- CAT5e/CAT6 structured cabling installation
- Cable pulling, routing, dressing and labeling
- Data and network outlet installation
- CCTV camera cabling and installation
- Low-voltage and telecommunications cabling
- Installation of J-hooks, cable pathways and related supports
- Patch panel, rack and network cabinet work
- Cable termination and basic testing
- Troubleshooting network and low-voltage cabling
- Assisting with network equipment installation
- Following drawings, floor plans and site instructions
- Working safely on ladders and lifts where properly trained and authorized
- Coordinating with MLTS project leads, contractors and other trades
- Maintaining a clean and professional work area
- Travelling to project locations when required
What We Are Looking For
Previous experience in one or more of the following is preferred:
- Structured cabling
- Telecommunications
- CCTV/security camera installation
- Low-voltage systems
- Networking
- Commercial construction
- Fiber or telecom field work
Candidates with relevant technical training and strong hands-on ability are also encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with CAT5e/CAT6 cable installation
- Experience terminating RJ45, keystone jacks or patch panels
- Familiarity with cable testers, toner/probes and basic hand tools
- Experience working on commercial construction sites
- Understanding of workplace safety requirements
- WHMIS certification
- Fall Protection / Working at Heights certification
- Scissor lift or aerial lift certification is an asset
- Valid driver's licence is preferred
- Reliable transportation is an asset
Schedule
This is initially a project-based position, so hours will depend on active project requirements.
Candidates should have flexibility for:
- Day shifts
- Evening shifts
- Night shifts
- Weekday or occasional weekend work
- Projects outside Saskatoon when required
Availability and reliability are very important for this position.
Compensation may be reviewed based on experience, performance, technical capability and responsibilities.
