We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Sandblaster to join our manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing metal and other surfaces by removing rust, paint, and other contaminants through abrasive blasting techniques. Your expertise will ensure that surfaces are properly cleaned and finished to meet quality standards, supporting the production of durable, high-quality products. The ideal candidate will possess mechanical knowledge, proficiency with hand and power tools, and a strong commitment to safety and efficiency.
Duties
- Operate sandblasting equipment to clean and prepare surfaces according to specifications
- Set up and adjust blasting machines, ensuring proper pressure and media flow
- Inspect surfaces before and after blasting to verify cleanliness and quality standards
- Maintain and troubleshoot abrasive blasting tools and machinery regularly
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and mechanical skills for surface preparation tasks
- Follow safety protocols diligently to prevent accidents and ensure a safe work workplace
- Assist with assembly,
machining, or other manufacturing processes as needed
- Support lean manufacturing initiatives by maintaining organized work areas and minimizing waste
Requirements
- Proven experience with sandblasting techniques in a manufacturing or industrial setting
- Mechanical knowledge of machinery, hand tools, power tools, welding, and basic maintenance
- Ability to read blueprints or technical drawings is a plus
- Familiarity with crane operation, forklift handling, and material handling equipment preferred
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles to promote efficiency
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to surface preparation
- Knowledge of safety standards related to abrasive blasting and manufacturing environments
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced setting
