We are seeking a Medical/Dental Healthcare Equipment Field Service & Sales Technician to join our team in a combined technical service and business development role.

This position combines hands-on equipment repair and preventative maintenance with proactive business development and customer outreach. Following initial training, the successful candidate will begin developing new service opportunities through cold calling, prospecting, and in-person visits to medical, dental, veterinary, and other healthcare practices, while providing technical service both on-site at customer locations and at our service facility.

Previous medical or dental equipment experience is an asset but is not required. We are looking for someone with strong transferable experience in electronics, electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, instrumentation, equipment repair, or a similar technical field who is comfortable troubleshooting independently, researching solutions, and learning new equipment and applications.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Customer Engagement

- Prospect for new service customers through cold calling, follow-up, and in-person visits throughout the assigned Alberta territory.
- Build relationships with medical, dental, veterinary, and other healthcare practices.
- Identify decision-makers and develop new repair, preventative maintenance, and service opportunities.
- Communicate the value of preventative maintenance and timely equipment repairs in reducing equipment downtime.
- Prepare service estimates and follow up on quotations, proposals, and customer inquiries.
- Maintain an active pipeline of prospective customers and identify opportunities to expand existing service relationships.
- Maintain accurate customer interactions, prospecting activities, quotations, and follow-up activities within our CRM and other company systems.

Equipment Service & Repair

- Troubleshoot, diagnose, inspect, clean, repair, test, calibrate, and perform preventative maintenance on medical and dental equipment, including handpieces, autoclaves, dental chairs, medical chairs, and other specialized equipment.
- Perform both on-site field service and in-house bench repairs, including electrical, electronic, mechanical, and electromechanical troubleshooting, soldering, wiring, and component replacement.
- Complete scheduled preventative maintenance, safety inspections, electrical safety testing, adjustments, and replacement of worn components.
- Assemble, inspect, install, test, and calibrate current medical devices and diagnostic systems according to manufacturer specifications.
- Use technical manuals, schematics, manufacturer documentation, and other appropriate resources to troubleshoot unfamiliar equipment and identify required parts, tools, and repair solutions.




- Complete service and testing in accordance with manufacturer specifications and applicable quality and regulatory requirements.

Software & Network Support

- Assist with equipment software installation, configuration, updates, and connectivity.
- Troubleshoot basic computer, software, and networking issues related to serviced equipment.
- Coordinate with customer IT departments when equipment requires network connectivity.
- Support communication between equipment and compatible Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems, practice management systems, and other connected platforms where applicable.
- Follow manufacturer requirements and customer cybersecurity policies when working with connected equipment.

Quotes, Billing & Service Administration

- Prepare accurate labour and parts quotes based on diagnosed service requirements using AIMS, ZOHO, and other company systems.
- Complete digital service documentation accurately and promptly to support customer billing and invoicing.
- Maintain accurate service records, including repairs performed, parts used, testing, calibration, and preventative maintenance.
- Complete service reports and required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Parts, Inventory & Logistics

- Research, source, and order required replacement parts and components from appropriate manufacturers and vendors.
- Maintain accurate inventory of service parts, specialized tools, test equipment, and consumables at the service facility and in the company vehicle.
- Inspect incoming parts and shipments for accuracy, coordinate defective part returns, and maintain inventory records.
- Ensure service tools and test equipment are properly maintained and available for required work.

Customer Training & Continuous Learning

- Conduct equipment demonstrations and provide instruction to nurses, physicians, technicians, and other users on safe and proper equipment operation.
- Explain technical issues, repair recommendations, and service requirements clearly to customers.
- Provide recommendations regarding equipment maintenance, repair, replacement, and service needs.
- Complete required company, safety, compliance, and manufacturer training.
- Proactively research technical manuals, manufacturer resources, schematics, and other appropriate information when working with unfamiliar equipment.
- Maintain professional and courteous customer relationships throughout the service process.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Education & Experience: Diploma, technical certification, apprenticeship,



degree, or equivalent hands-on experience in Biomedical Engineering Technology, Electronics/Electrical Technology, Instrumentation Technology, Power Engineering Technology, IT hardware repair, or a related technical field.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, or electromechanical systems, with hands-on troubleshooting and repair experience.
- Tools & Dexterity: Comfortable using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, multimeters, power supplies, torque tools, and similar test equipment. Strong manual dexterity and mechanical aptitude.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, including the ability to research technical information and independently work through unfamiliar equipment issues.
- Technical Documentation: Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, mechanical drawings, service documentation, and manufacturer specifications.
- Repair Skills: Soldering experience and familiarity with preventative maintenance, calibration, testing, and equipment safety principles.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain technical information clearly to non-technical customers.
- Business Development: Comfortable with outbound calling, in-person prospecting, customer follow-up, and developing new service opportunities.
- Software: Comfortable learning CRM, service management, and asset management systems. Experience with ZOHO CRM, AIMS, or similar systems is an asset.
- Industry Experience: Previous medical, dental, veterinary, laboratory, or healthcare equipment experience is an asset but is not required.
- Driver's License: Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract and ability to operate a company vehicle are required.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

- Settings: Medical, dental, veterinary, laboratory, healthcare, and company service environments.
- Travel: Regular travel within the assigned Alberta territory is required. A company vehicle will be provided for business travel.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to safely lift and transport equipment weighing approximately 50–75 lbs, along with standing, bending, kneeling, and reaching as required.
- Scheduling: Generally standard daytime hours, with occasional evening, weekend, holiday, or emergency service and possible participation in an on-call rotation.
