Job description:

Canara Woodworking, BUILD IT’s sister company, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Cabinet Maker to join its team and contribute to the fabrication and delivery of premium custom millwork and cabinetry solutions.

About Canara Woodworking
Founded in 2001, Canara Woodworking is a leading provider of high-end, custom millwork and construction solutions, serving commercial, residential, and retail clients. Built on a foundation of quality craftsmanship, exceptional customer service, and skilled expertise, Canara has established a strong reputation for delivering tailored, design-driven projects.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Cabinetmaker with advanced architectural blueprint reading capabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for transforming shop drawings into high-end finished millwork, managing the assembly of complex cabinetry, and ensuring that all custom components meet Canara’s quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Drawing Interpretation: Read and interpret detailed architectural shop drawings, sections, and plan views. Identify hardware requirements and assembly methods directly from the prints.
- Precision Assembly: Assemble high-end cabinetry, reception desks, wall paneling, and custom furniture using various joinery techniques (dowels, blind-dados, miters, etc.).
- Hardware Integration: Install specialized functional and decorative hardware, including concealed hinges, heavy-duty drawer slides, lift-up systems, and integrated LED lighting channels.
- Material Selection: Select and prepare various wood species, veneers, and substrates (MDF, PLY, Particle Board) ensuring grain matching and sequence as specified in the design.
- Machine Operation: Safely operate standard shop machinery (table saw, edge-bander, boring machines, shaper,

and hand tools) to fine-tune components provided by the CNC department.
- Quality Assurance: Perform final "dry-fits" of complex assemblies to ensure seamless installation on-site. Verify that all dimensions align perfectly with the approved drawings.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the CNC Programmer and Project Managers to resolve any discrepancies between the design intent and the physical build.

Required Skills & Qualifications

- Experience: Minimum 5–8 years of experience in custom architectural millwork or high-end cabinetry.
- Technical Literacy: Expert-level ability to read and interpret shop drawings. Must understand tolerances, reveal details, and material callouts.
- Tool Proficiency: Mastery of all traditional woodworking hand tools and stationary power equipment.
- Problem Solving: Ability to "think ahead" of the assembly process to prevent finish or installation conflicts.
- Communication: Ability to explain technical assembly details to junior shop staff and collaborate with the drafting team.

Performance Indicators

- Blue-Print Accuracy: Completing builds exactly to the provided drawings with zero dimensional variances.
- Efficiency: Meeting production hours allocated for each project without compromising finish quality.
- Site Readiness: Ensuring units are built for easy transport and "site-friendly" installation (e.g., proper scribe allowances).
