Recovery Nurse – General Anesthesia

HiFive Kids Dental is looking for a compassionate, experienced Recovery Nurse to join our team and assist with our General Anesthesia (GA) days.

This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who enjoys working with children and is confident providing post-anesthetic care in a pediatric dental setting.

Position Responsibilities

- Provide post-anesthesia recovery care for pediatric patients following dental procedures under general anesthesia.
- Monitor patients closely throughout the recovery period, including vital signs, airway, breathing, oxygen saturation, level of consciousness, and overall condition.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to any changes or complications during recovery.
- Assist with maintaining a safe and comfortable recovery environment.
- Provide parents/guardians with post-operative instructions and reinforce discharge instructions provided by the dental/anesthesia team.
- Ensure patients meet appropriate discharge criteria before leaving the office.
- Communicate effectively with the dentist, anesthesiologist, dental team, and parents/guardians.
- Complete accurate patient documentation and recovery records.
- Follow all clinic policies, infection prevention and control procedures, and emergency protocols.

Qualifications





- Current RN or registration in Ontario in good standing.
- Current certification; additional pediatric/emergency certifications are considered an asset.
- Previous experience in post-anesthesia care, pediatric care, surgical recovery, emergency care, or a similar setting is preferred.
- Comfortable working with children and their families.
- Strong assessment, communication, and clinical decision-making skills.
- Calm and confident in an emergency or rapidly changing situation.
- Professional, reliable, compassionate, and team-oriented.

Schedule

GA days are scheduled on select weekdays throughout the year.

Availability: Three times a month

This position may be ideal for a nurse looking for occasional/part-time GA day shifts rather than a full time position.
